On tap at Dieu du Ciel. Pours a lightly hazy golden orange with a medium sized beige head. Soft caramel, big malt and a touch of hops. Nice and earthy hop presence. Malty and a bit toasty. Sweet, moving into a large earthy bitter finish.

Very sweet matly aroma wine some light piney soapy hops. Thick lacing, loads of retention. Almost no bitterness, caramel malts and soapy hops end it off. Meh.

February 15, 2011. Shared by blankboy with garthicus and me. 341ml bottle. Slightly hazy amber with a decent off-white creamy head. Aroma is floral, with citrus zest, alcohol and a bit of light background generic fruitiness. Taste follows, seems to have a bit of the Belgian golden character (spicy, sweet, yeasty), definitely dry and floral, some alcohol, not too sweet - seemed more Belgian than APA -ish to me. Thick body, decent carbonation, a wee bit astringent, a medium-bitter finish, quite dry, no residual sweetness.

My Bottom Line :
Toasted, nutty malt accents construct a compelling flavor profile where fruity, citrusy hops yield wooden bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sheet of foam tops the pale amber.
-The toasted, caramelized malt flavors are beautifully sustained into the finish.
-The mouthfeel is a tad rounder than your average Pale Ale, but then again this is DDC...
-Soft effervescence makes this quite drinkable.
-I love a Pale Ale which is as memorable on the grain bill side of things as it is in the hop signature.

Bottle.

[3991-20110924] Tap. Smoked dry toast grains aroma with a bit of poopy mud. Slightly hazy, amber orange body with a quick foamy off-white head. Smoked toast grains and peat moss earth flavour. Medium body. Good. (6/3/6/3/14) 3.2

2011-09-24. Orange amber body with a nice off-white beige head and lace faces. 3+ Odd grainy flavour, toasty Earthy malt accents, light bitterness throughout, medium fruity touches. Earthy grainy malt aroma. Average plus bodied palate. Sort of an English character to the malt? Not to my tastes. On tap at Volo, Toronto

A little underwhelming but still enjoyable. Caramel, biscuit malts, balanced by citrus/floral hops. Some pretty intense bitterness. Improves with warmth.

On tap at DDC 13th aniv party.
Aroma grainy, dusty with honey . fruity follow up. Rather basic approach.
Appearance hazed amber , mid light creamy top. Sparse lace. 3+
Flavor and Palate : medium bodied. Nutty, earthy , woody bitterness. Leafy full feel. Slight hints of caramel malts with good bitterness on top. Reminded me of German Alt beers.
