presario (2397), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Dec 22, 2007 Bottle. Great thick meringue head on hazy dark yellow. Delicate peppery spice nose. Highly spiced flavour. First taste seems mild then the aftertaste grows and grows. Hints of vanilla, pepper and banana. Second sip and all the flavours come together. Could get drunk night after night on this, tastes better each sip. Boutip (1769), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Dec 18, 2007 Bottle: Poured a deep dirty yellow color ale with a huge foamy head with perfect retention and some great lacing. Aroma of noble dry hops with some nice Belgian style malt. Taste is really dry and is totally dominated by some floral and dry hops with a nice Belgian malt structure. Body is above average with some limited filtration and perfect carbonation for the style. I believe we are just missing some wild yeast and we would have a perfect score. tupalev (2296), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 6, 2008 Bottle. Nice golden yellow pour with a slight haze, good size fluffy white head with great lacing. Very strong spicy aroma with some candy like sugar sweetness. Wonderful taste! Soft floral notes giving way to lots of spice, coriander and clove, and finishes with a sharp bitterness. Incredible foamy soft mouthfeel really lets you take it all in and accentuates the flavours that are here. Wow, this is really good. I wish I had a chance to try this at the brewpub - I have never seen it on until the bottles came out. Incredible;e, knocked my socks off. SSSteve (1523), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 30, 2008 Updated: Jul 1, 2008cloudy dark gold with a large white foamy head. apricot, flowers, spices, pepper, apple aroma. flavor is peach, apricot, rose hips, hops, pepper, herbs. nice and floral. very impressed with this brewery. Davinci (258), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 22, 2008 Golden yellow pour with large rocky white head thick like meringue. Bubbles are large soda bubbles. Very sticky large lacing. Hops really shine through at first, very herbal almost peppery nobel type hop aroma. Below that there is a nice subtle fruity ester and maybe a hint of citrus followed by a faint alcohol note. I am quite impressed with the complexity in the nose. Wow the taste does not dissapoint. This one really wakes up the palate. Spicey tart and sweet all seem to exist nearly simultaneously. A nice bitter, spicey, herbal hop note leads the charge, followed quickly by a pleasant citrus note coupled with a mild sweetness. The whole thing ends up rolling towards the hops toward the end. This is very big yet well balanced. I agree with marcbe in that the bitter and tart characteristics blend like Orval or even a Westy blonde. Well done to say the least and way under-rated in my opinion.
