mgermani (561), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Apr 17, 2008 Pours a beautiful hazy peach-gold with a thick head that looks like beaten egg-whites. Aroma is full of promise - cloves, coriander, banana... yum. Oh god, Belgian blondes would ALL be immensely better if dry-hopped. This is totally the way to go! Wonderful crisp hop taste opens up into delicious malty sweetness perfectly balanced by lingering bitter hops, not grassy at all but lightly grapefruit-like. Notes of canned peaches. Alcohol warms the finish. Great creamy body, if a bit under-carbonated, but really quite nice. What a super treat - thanks to Robinvboyer for the trade!!!
kiefdog (325), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 20, 2008 11.5 oz bottle from Kingdom Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a hazy caramel golden color with a massive white, foamy head and clearly visible floaties. Excellent retention and lacing. Aroma is spicy, orange peel, ripe citrus, grain, bready yeast as well. Flavor is malty sweetness, spice, pineapple, banana with slight hoppy notes toward the end. Medium body with a slight bitter finish. Nice Belgian-style ale. mreusch (433), Olathe, Kansas, USA Jul 19, 2008 341ml bottle, with thanks to Glouglouburp for this great bonus! Pours a clear golden with a towering fluffy white head, excellent retention and lacing. Aroma is nice and spicy, with some light citrus and summer fruits. Flavor is spicy again, with more citrus and island fruit present than in the aroma. Quite quaffable and tasty. Thanks Dany! jcr (811), Jasper, Indiana, USA Jul 19, 2008 Bottle. Surprisingly bitter and overly bitter at that, but enjoyable nonetheless. Hazy, yellow/golden body below a large, frothy and white head that lasts. the aroma is mostly orange, grapefruit and pineapple with notes of coriander. Hints of grain and dust with some banana and apples underneath it all. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately bitter, but the bitterness dominates both of the initial flavor and the finish. You can taste fruit and spice. Medium body and a velvety texture. Plenty of carbonation. Nicely complex. Very nice.
SpudClampDawg (901), Jasper, Indiana, USA Jul 17, 2008 11.5oz bottle: Cloudy yellow pour with a thick, mound forming, head. The warm nose notes lots of fresh bread, flavorful honey, ripe banana and apples, funky and earthy yeast. Expansive carbonation works with the creamy, yeasty body. Mild, grassy bitterness leads the charge in the body, followed by a rush of flavors that include more esthery apple and pears, toast, graham cracker and sweet vanilla. Very good and very complex. GreenWall (33), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Jul 16, 2008 Pours hazy golden with three fingers of pillowy white head. The aroma is floral, definite pineapple, nice peppery phenolics. Nice spicy flavour. Firm bitterness and copious English hop flavour keep it very crisp, while the Belgian yeast notes (pineapple, pepper) carry over strongly from the aroma. Some alcohol. Silky and light on the tongue. Slight acrid dry hop character, almost tobacco-y. A beer of delicate but exceptional balance - a Belgian blonde with the hopping of an English summer bitter. Not a style-maker; just a perfect bent beer.
