twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Apr 6, 2009 bottle.
Pours a pale golden color, thin tight head that clears to a ring quickly. Sticky sweet flowery nose- very heavy, thick sweet aroma. Flavor develops much more balance and depth than the nose, with a quick and sharp spicy hop bite on the front, muted sweet caramel and toffee notes in the background. Very dry and astringent on the palate, in a very good way. Some booze shows up in the finish. Schroppfy (1810), Ohio, USA Apr 3, 2009 Insanely perfumey, flowery nose, with definite acetone elements. Strong hop flavors - astringent, drying. Cottony body, pillowy. Good, but intense, flavors. I would like to age this - properly (this was a dusty bottle obtained at Ye Olde Beer Shoppe)... xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Apr 2, 2009 Bottle from West Lakeview, Chicago. Cloudy orange with large white head. Nose is citrus, lemon, grapefruit, yeast, off-dry, apricot, some spice, nice. Flavor is dirty fruit: grapefruit, apricot; yeast, spice, alc, maybe a little perfume, dry, Medium to thin with lively carbonation. Nice but dirty and alc at the same time. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Apr 2, 2009 Pours dirty gold with thin white head. The aroma is very fruity and candy – like with notes of apple, apricot, yeast and spice. The taste is very spicy with yeast spice notes and cinnamon. Those flavors are soon followed by big fruitiness by midway from apples, pears and apricots. It ends with a bit of Belgian candi sugar. markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Mar 28, 2009 Thanks retorp for the share. Pours hazy yellow-orange with nose of Belgium: yeast, citrus, faint apple, spice, citrus, and an enjoyable caramel/toffee note. Flavor is much the same with pieces of caramel, hops, booze, and a dry finish. Enjoyable. jzzbassman (838), New Albany, Mississippi, USA Mar 27, 2009 Hazy and chunky pour of burnt orange. Spicy aroma, with floral, lemon, and yeast. Peppery at first, with notes of cinnamon and coriander. Nice earthy hoppy finish nimbleprop (819), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Mar 26, 2009 12oz bottle pours a slightly hazy, yellow orange with a frothy, clumping, lacing white head. Aroma has plenty of yeasty esters, bananas, clove, spice, some gentle sweetness, tropical fruits. Flavor is very similar, spices and bananas, yeasty, a little bready, flowers, some more sweet fruits. Finish is sweet and slightly chalky. I don’t know that this beer is a knockout, but it’s really drinkable and a great representation of the style. It was a tad expensive but overall very nice. bboeckl (133), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA Mar 25, 2009 Thank you Jim Daley for your generous wedding present. Beer poured a clear golden blond. Taste was yeasty, sweet, with a dry bitter finish. Fantastico!
