merlin48 (509), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA Jul 10, 2008 11.5 oz bottle pours a hazy golden amber body. Medium offwhite head retains well and leaves lots of thin patches of lace on the snifter. Aroma is spicy pepper, yeast, grassy and floral hops, and some citrusy esters. Light medium body has a zingy carbonation and a distinct peppery bite. Taste is complex and mostly hop driven. A floral and peppery dryness dominates the faint banana and grapefruit hints. Solid malt backbone is biscuity, with only a subtle sweetness. Belgian yeast is prominent. This Canadian ale is very much in the Belgian style of hoppy ales. Nicely done. aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Jul 3, 2008 Cloudy amber with a good foam on top. The aroma is surprisingly hoppy. There’s this huge grassy noble hop aroma that shocks the sinuses. Flowery aroma that reminds me of jonquils/daffodils. Good straw malt like a pilsner with sweetness added. This is actually an incredibly tasty beer. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle. Big fruity, floral, spicy nose, heavy yeast presence but just dynamite flavor. Coriander, lemon zest, wheat, and again, floral spice. Hazy lemon yellow pour with a dense white head.
Crisp medium body, almost too carbonated, with loads of wheat and lemon/orange peel. Very, very dry and spicy, slightly peppery with coriander and alcohol heat, along with some sort of exotic guarana/guava/mango fruit notes coming from either the yeast or the hops. Peach and pear, too. A good one, feels more like a tripel than was likely intended.
JFURYCAT (782), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 30, 2008 Taste is a bit on the peppery side but the dry hopping adds a nice accentuation to its bitterness along with tones of lemongrass, orange and a strong grapefruit character. I’ve been throwing that grapefruit word with other reviews but now I really taste it. My wife would probably give this over a 4 is she was a member here. Bottle from NEPA case split club. Turco (11), Alma, Quebec, Canada Jun 28, 2008 A hazy golden-orange beer with a small white head that leaves a very nice lacing. Aromas of pepper, yeast and malt. Flavor is spicy and fruity, with notes of corianders and citrus. Light-medium body with a dry and hoppy finish. Well-balanced. jrob21 (1252), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 26, 2008 Cloudy yellow orange color with a huge gushing white head which is kind of annoying at first while you let it settle down. Spice and yeast in the aroma. Flavor is cinnamon and clove up front that fades into a slightly malty and fruity drink. Slight chalky texture. Some citrus flavors and a bit of a bitter, metallic hop finish. Easy to drink and enjoy. pintbypint (1002), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 25, 2008 341ml brown bottle from Goldorak. Pours golden, some haze. Creamy and fluffy white cap which refuses to die, leaves excellent lacing. Citrusy aroma - lemon and orange, perhaps a trace of pine (?) and light spiciness. Flavour is sweet with marmalade and cloves. A lot of hop flavour. Dry citrusy finish with some late bitterness. A lot of prickly carbonation, light in body, very drinkable. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 23, 2008 11.5 oz. Hazy peach-amber with a medium-sized, lasting and creamy head. Sweet clove-banana, resin, citrus peel, and pepper aroma. Flavor is the same components, but sort of proportionally reversed and not as sweet as the smell would indicate: more resin, citrus, pepper, and wood to provide a nice balance to the sweet malt. Near medium body is fairly smooth and dry.
