4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a dense amber body fraught with beautiful particulate beneath a creamy, lasting white head. Deep, fruity aroma... a sweet cocktail of cherries, peach, tangerine with a pleasing waft of alcohol as well as remnants of tea leaves, tree leaves and honey. The marriage of Belgium & England is well-played. Flavor leans towards the latter as the tongue is first met by the taste of an English IPA before it opens up to sweeter fruitiness, a cheesish yeastiness and, once again, a sweet drop of honey. Lightly astringent yet the flavors last with a complex sweet-yet-bitter spiciness. Quite incredible. ~~~~~~~ Single 12 oz. bottle from Archer Liquors, Chicago.

Hazy golden pour with white head. Aromas of hay, yeast, coriander, spicy notes. Medium bodied and creamy. Flavours of bready malt, citrus, yeast. Oddly minty. Nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Ambrée avec un col moyen blanc. L’arôme du levure belge, les épices (comme du cannelle et clous de girofle), et du fruit. Le goût est du malt, épices, et fruit avec une finale légèrement amer avec une presence solide des épices.

Derniere Volonte from Dieu du Ciel
My wife and I visited Dieu du Ciel in Montreal as part of our honeymoon. At the time they served 2 of the top 10 beers in the world.
This was not one of those. Actually never heard of this until I saw it at the LCBO.
Very hazy golden yellow pour with lacy head. Weak scent. Smelly like a beer. A hoppy beer but a beer. Holy fruity. Tastes nothing like the usual puckery grapefruit like bitterness of most pale ales.
Seriously wow. This is fantastic. Notes of cinnamon and spice just a touch of bitterness in the middle but a sweet finish. Very clean.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at St Augustine’s in Vancouver. A medium amber in color, with a bit of head. A very decent Belgian style ale. I cannot say more at this time.

Bottle. Pours gold, white head. Nose of wheat, spice, lemon-orange citrus. Flavour is lemon wheatiness with pepper, phenols are quite high. Finish is dry and thin. Alright, pretty much a wit.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Just an all around incredibly well made beer. Definitely feels rich in the mouth. A rich dense fruity nose with a floral lift. A beer I just can’t stop smelling and tasting. I think it needs to definitely warm up in the glass to be fully expressive due to the dense richness. Getting really tired of overbuilt beers and appreciating more and more the importance of body and character and nuance. The kind of thing usually found in beers that have a generations in the making maturity to the recipe (Like Ayinger Dunkel, for instance). If this is where Dieu Du Ciel is now as a young brewery, it will be exciting to taste them in 50 years. If I’m overstating this beer, I’d like to know what imperfections I’m missing.
