Pours a very hazy gold with a thin-moderate linen white head that faded to a thick ring after the first two sips and lingered to the end, leaving partial lace. There are a lot of white chunks floating about, not just some little specks but fairly substantial pieces as well. It really doesn’t look all that appetizing. The aroma is very nice with lots of Belgian yeast, lemon, and floral notes. The flavor is nowhere near as bright and lovely as the aroma. Initially, there is some muted Belgian yeast, however, this is overrun by a considerable dose of hot black pepper. Hot, bitter and very dry at the finish. This beer is definitely not for me. travita (1970), Frisco, Texas, USA

The smell is a little grass, spices, fruits, flowers, and yeast. The taste is a grassy hop, fruits, yeast, very belgian. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

Aroma is phenolicy, bready, and earthy belgian yeast with a touch of esters, vanilla and earthy hops. Taste is lightly estery and moderately phenolic with alot of bready pils malt, mild citrus, vanilla. Moderately hoppy with a smooth bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied, slightly creamy texture. This one of the best belgian pales I’ve had. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Floral banana and soft peppered coriander aromas ride undercurrents of grassy yeasty pear tones. Spiced fruity wheat-like flavors mingle with hints of sugared bread and earthy grass. Very well balanced from start to finish. Medium bodied, fizzy carbonation, light peppery sweet finish. A very nice summer brew.... tronraner (1939), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 2, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours hazy light gold with very large, sticky, off-white head. The aroma is spicy, with some ripe mango, lemon zest, sweet bread, and coriander. The flavor starts off on a peppery note, then comes that mango again, with some strong, earthy spice. The finish is zesty with some yeasty and peppery notes that linger for a while. Pretty tasty beer. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
