Bon travail DDC!

Bottle @Home (Ryder Cup Day 1 2016 tasting). Pours golden, no head, cloudy. Nose is citrus and floral there is defiantly something there that may well be kumquat. Taste is slight citrus, grapefruit, bitter finish.

Very refreshing IPA, nice citrus notes, but not overbearing. Fair bit of yeast sediment, but nothing to worry about. Very enjoyable. Golden in colour.

Visual: Pours cloudy marmalade orange with a smallish head, a thin layer of retention, scattered small clusters of micro streams, suspended micro sediment.

Nose: slight orange citrus, sweet malted barley, soapy edge. (lvl-3)-pungency

Attack: crisp bite, smooth creamy CO2

Mid-palate: sustained bright kumquat citrusy, background soft tangy, (lvl-5-sweetness), sweet toffee barley malt

Finish: hints of banana wheat malt, dry resiny hopped bitter

Summary: The kumquat brings a nice sustained citrus element that is apparent from the mids to the finish. Overall delicious but I wished for more length and depth in the mids - it could use a meatier malt base. Overall well constructed and another quality DDC brew.

Bottle bought online from Saveur Biere. Poured carefully, pours a cloudy pale amber colour with a lasting off white head, avoided much of the bottle sediment of which there was a lot. Aroma is lightly hopped, malt, caramel, some fruit and honey notes. Medium sweetness and bitterness. Medium body, texture is silky creamy. Soft carbonation. Finish has a creamy feel and lasting fruity bitterness. Quite a decent IPA.

Well-known new style fruit IPA by Québec’s Dieu du Ciel, with very thick, frothy, lacing, egg-white head and hazy ochre-hued straw blonde colour. Lovely aroma in which actual kumquat is very recognizable, starfruit, lime, minerals, green olive, dried mango, unripe melon. Crisp, fruity onset, very refreshing with impressions of kiwi, starfruit and lime - or, indeed, real kumquat, sweetish and sourish, with some minerally carbonation surrounding it, finely tingling. Supple, slightly oily mouthfeel, somewhat grainy, lightly bready and subtly caramelly malt middle, resinous and very aromatic finish, New World hop features of unripe mango, lime zest and grapefruit cleverly mingled with the ongoing kumquat, drying, a bit spicy and delicate, but perhaps a bit too soft in bitterness for an IPA. Still, in the new trend of cloudy fruit IPAs, this is exemplary.

Huge, dense just off-white head over fully (cold)hazed if bright orange beer. Citrus, orange,... (huge head hampers the perception). Light citrus, some orange, soft pepper, bit of vanilla and banana. False body, creamfilled and -texture, not really heavy. Aftertaste leaves a quite dry impression. Fresh, light.

341ml twist off bottle. Orange pour. Aroma is a bit meady, not sure on the age of this. FLavor is good enough, more kumquaty, not very bitter, malt is a touch caramel. It needs a bit of work.

341ml Bottle. This beer intrigued me for a while, finally decided to pick it up. Slightly hazy golden color. Nice 2 fingers layer of head. Aromas of lemon, oranges and tropical fruits. taste is pretty much what you would expect from an IPA . Dry, light, slight pale malts notes with strong hops presence. The after taste is more what’s unique about this beer, the hoppy and kumquats biterness... I don’t know but it feels a little bit odd to me. not sure they go well together but that is just my opinion. Other than that the beer delivers and it’s pretty good.
