Équinoxe du Printemps (French for "spring equinox") is the quintessential marriage of two great traditions: beer brewing in Scotland, and maple syrup production in Quebec. At the first draught, the mouth is overcome by woody, malty flavours, sustained by a discrete touch of sweetness. The aftertaste brings about the flavours of maple, which are sufficiently present to be appreciated, but never overwhelming the typical flavours of a Scotch Ale.

Equinoxe du printemps is brewed only once a year in January. It is aged for two months in order to attain a perfect balance in taste. Then, it is sold starting March 21st, until stocks last.

Aroma is quite subtle, but fruity. Beautiful wooden red colour. Not sure I taste the maple. A little too booze-y and sweet... Creates an aftertaste I dont love, but not bad overall.

On tap @Ma che siete venuti a fà (Rome). Pours deep amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, toffee, esters (ripe apples). Flavour is medium sweet with a bitter end and a light sourness. Medium to high body, medium carbonation. Very nice!

Opaque dark brown, almost black color, with strong activity on the sides of the glass. Creamy light brown 2 finger head, lasting 10 minutes, with strong legs. Aromas of sweet toffee and roasted spices. Flavors of nuts, toffee, molasses, maple syrup, grains, whisky, and herbal spices. More of a sweet sugary taste than bitter and lots of spices. Complex having feelings of sweet bread, roasted nuts, woody and earthy with hints of pine and oak. Milky slick medium body with moderate carbonation. Well intensified finish of medium length, ending with a spicy roasted malt and bitter earthy herbal feel, and a syrupy maple tongue coat. A little alcoholic. Overall a decent craft with complex flavors but a little off with a slight wet cardboard taste (maybe a bad bottle?). Missing some freshness and a little flat.

Pours dark brown with a moderately sized tan head. Aromas of muscovado sugar, raisins, dates, caramel, caramellized apple. Taste is jam fruitiness and molasses with a strong malty backbone. Mouthfeel is slightly sticky and medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Good stuff!
