Équinoxe du Printemps (French for "spring equinox") is the quintessential marriage of two great traditions: beer brewing in Scotland, and maple syrup production in Quebec. At the first draught, the mouth is overcome by woody, malty flavours, sustained by a discrete touch of sweetness. The aftertaste brings about the flavours of maple, which are sufficiently present to be appreciated, but never overwhelming the typical flavours of a Scotch Ale.

Equinoxe du printemps is brewed only once a year in January. It is aged for two months in order to attain a perfect balance in taste. Then, it is sold starting March 21st, until stocks last.

Very interesting beer. Maple not overpowering, and adds a nice complexity. Had on cask.

Divin.

The aroma is malty, warm and full of peat and sweetness; very inviting. The ruddy, hazy brew is full of sediment and capped with a a thick, frothy foam, latte in hue and somewhat akin to the cap on a root beer float. Visually delicious! - The flavor is somewhat anchored to the aroma, and the maple adds a sweetness to the already sweet malty backbone. The body is respectable, but not overbearing, and holds a level of carbonation that carries the flavors and aroma to a mild, and very quaffable end. At 9.5% this should be a booze bomb, but instead, from crack of the cap to long after the swallow, there is nothing but a mellow, drinkable beer. Not amazing, but certainly a beer I would drink again.

Bottle shared. Maple syrup is nicely integrated, mouthfeel is so smooth and soft that it feels like marshmallow with pleasant plum/fig fruitiness, gentle warming finish with a touch of cinnamon. Delicious brew, great for early winter, definitely will chase other aged versions.

January 1, 2015. Bottle, notched 1 and 5, probably bottled january 2015 (?).
Murky reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is malty, fruity and light boozy with toffee, apricot, maple syrup, hints of cinnamon and light earthy. Taste is light to medium sweet, light bitter. Finish is malty and a bit fruity with toffee, peach, pear, herbal, light spicy and an earthy slight harsh touch of alcohol. Medium bodied, soft to average carbonation.
Good but there is a light disturbing touch of higher alcohol.

Flaska. Mörkbrun öl med ett medel mot litet beigt skum. Dofter och smaker av karamell, torkad frukt, nöt och sirap. Alkohol sticker igenom i eftersmaken. Medelstor kropp.

Bottle shared with koleminer20. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, toffee, subtle maple, slight metallic, smells a lot like an old ale. Appearance is ruby, light tan head. Taste is balanced, not a lot standing out, but might caramel and toffee, sweet malt, very malty finish. Mouthfeel is light for the style, medium body and carbonation. Overall, I keep expecting great things from them and keep being disappointed.

12 oz bottle shared by ebone1988. The pour is a murky dark mahogany color with a thinner, soapy, light tan head with some spots of lace as it falls to a bubbly collar. The aroma is strange. There is a little metallic tendency present. The maple does come through on the back but it's light, and an accent piece at best. There is a sweet malt undertone and a light scotch ale sweetness. The malts are nicely balanced by the maple sweetness. Not a lot of caramel, which is typical, but it's serviceable. The flavor is all dry roasted malt. There is an off putting sweetness and a light metallic that sucks, to be frank. There isn't any maple, and it's heavily disappointing. The mouth feel is thin and light. There is a decent carbonation and a lingeringly weird and sweet malt finish and a blandness that I'm not feeling at all. This is just not good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
