COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Équinoxe du Printemps (French for "spring equinox") is the quintessential marriage of two great traditions: beer brewing in Scotland, and maple syrup production in Quebec. At the first draught, the mouth is overcome by woody, malty flavours, sustained by a discrete touch of sweetness. The aftertaste brings about the flavours of maple, which are sufficiently present to be appreciated, but never overwhelming the typical flavours of a Scotch Ale.

Equinoxe du printemps is brewed only once a year in January. It is aged for two months in order to attain a perfect balance in taste. Then, it is sold starting March 21st, until stocks last.

Very interesting beer. Maple not overpowering, and adds a nice complexity. Had on cask.

Bottle, thanks Jo. Aroma: caramel, sugar, nuts, licorice. App: hazy brown-murky with nice small frothy beige head. Taste and palate: full body, smooth, finish is sweet and warm from the alcohol. Overall: As expected, I didn’t smell or taste the maple like most of the beer with maple syrup but it was still pretty good. Really enjoyed the warm finish. At half of the beer, I paired it with ham and it was so delicious. A perfect pairing that I’ll try to do again in the future.

2013 bottle. Pours a murky brown color with very little head or lacing. Aroma of roasted grain, brown sugar, hint of maple and some alcohol. Taste has a bit of brown sugar sweetness with a burnt caramel and banana flavor, a touch of maple, grainy roastiness and bitterness and a fair amount of alcohol. Finished with a mild roastiness. Mouthfeel and body were somewhat light and aqueous with low carbonation. Good flavor even though the appearance left something to be desired. Nice twist on a scotch ale and the flavors complimented each other nicely. Would like to try a fresher bottle.

A muddy dark brown color with no head. Smells of banana, caramel malt, apple, candied pineapple, a little of the maple. A sweet malty taste, caramel, brown sugar, and a good amount of maple. Some tanic tea like qualities as well. A smidgen of hop bitter in the finish with more maple and caramel. Overall a malty sweet maple flavor with other typical scotch ale flavors, alcohol somewhat apparent, needs to be sipped. Enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a hazy deep copper topped by a finger or so of tanned head showing some retention and lacing. The nose is sweet malts, dark bread, maple and a nice floral presence of the hops. The taste brings the maple up front with caramelized malts offering yet more sweetness to pair up with the floral hops coming through nicely. The yeasts do shine with a good earthy feature giving more depth to the blend. Mouthfeel is round and ample and the brew has a nice roasty sweet finish where a mild bitterness comes forth. Cheers!

2015 bottle. Pours a muddy brown color with large yeast particles floating around. Had a nice fluffy light tan head. Aroma is a light malt with a fair amount of bright, fresh hops with just a hint of the maple. Big mellow malt taste with a little sweetness. Maple flavor is subdued in the middle and there's a nice herbal hop bite at the end. Little alcohol presence. Medium full mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It poured a dark copper color with a tan head. The aroma was of sweet malts, caramel and notes of maple syrup. The taste was sweet with caramel, maple syrup, some dark fruits, smokiness, earthy hops and toasted malts. Good stuff.

Bottle @ THT January. Pours a murky brown beer with a small beige head on top. Aroma is very malty, faintly herbal with touches of clove and nutmeg and has a big woody backbone. Flavor has loads of spices going on and loads of licorice in the back, giving it a nice bittersweet aftertaste. Quite nice!
