Équinoxe du Printemps (French for "spring equinox") is the quintessential marriage of two great traditions: beer brewing in Scotland, and maple syrup production in Quebec. At the first draught, the mouth is overcome by woody, malty flavours, sustained by a discrete touch of sweetness. The aftertaste brings about the flavours of maple, which are sufficiently present to be appreciated, but never overwhelming the typical flavours of a Scotch Ale.

Equinoxe du printemps is brewed only once a year in January. It is aged for two months in order to attain a perfect balance in taste. Then, it is sold starting March 21st, until stocks last.

Modest head that dies to a thin film--leaves spotty lace that slides down the glass. The color is light brown and very cloudy. Sugary malt aroma; the maple syrup really shows up here. Sweet crystal malt and maple syrup flavor. Enough hop to provide interest and keep the Scotch Ale true to form. There’s a touch of smokiness and molasses. Rich body as expected. I wouldn’t describe this as a quaffing beer, but like others from Dieu du Ciel, it is complex and interesting.

Bottle shared with koleminer20. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, toffee, subtle maple, slight metallic, smells a lot like an old ale. Appearance is ruby, light tan head. Taste is balanced, not a lot standing out, but might caramel and toffee, sweet malt, very malty finish. Mouthfeel is light for the style, medium body and carbonation. Overall, I keep expecting great things from them and keep being disappointed.

12 oz bottle shared by ebone1988. The pour is a murky dark mahogany color with a thinner, soapy, light tan head with some spots of lace as it falls to a bubbly collar. The aroma is strange. There is a little metallic tendency present. The maple does come through on the back but it's light, and an accent piece at best. There is a sweet malt undertone and a light scotch ale sweetness. The malts are nicely balanced by the maple sweetness. Not a lot of caramel, which is typical, but it's serviceable. The flavor is all dry roasted malt. There is an off putting sweetness and a light metallic that sucks, to be frank. There isn't any maple, and it's heavily disappointing. The mouth feel is thin and light. There is a decent carbonation and a lingeringly weird and sweet malt finish and a blandness that I'm not feeling at all. This is just not good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml Bottle - Brown with red tinges. Caramel, popcorn, maple syrup and biscuity malt in the aroma. Fruity, malty and moderately sweet taste with toffee, maple syrup, biscuity malt and caramel popcorn standing out. Easy to drink considering its strength and very tasty but I am not sure if it would become very sickly after one bottle. Having said that, the strength means that one bottle is enough!

Aroam is nice and dark fruity with a slight hoppy touch. Taste is malty and sweet syrups. There’s some raisins in here with a toffee and autumn fruit sensation. Good finish.
