COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Équinoxe du Printemps (French for "spring equinox") is the quintessential marriage of two great traditions: beer brewing in Scotland, and maple syrup production in Quebec. At the first draught, the mouth is overcome by woody, malty flavours, sustained by a discrete touch of sweetness. The aftertaste brings about the flavours of maple, which are sufficiently present to be appreciated, but never overwhelming the typical flavours of a Scotch Ale.

Equinoxe du printemps is brewed only once a year in January. It is aged for two months in order to attain a perfect balance in taste. Then, it is sold starting March 21st, until stocks last.

A: Deep-amber/copper, light tan head, very little retention, no lacing. S: Maple is apparent, plenty of bubble gum fruit esters, sweet toffee & caramel. T: Maple syrup, toffee, caramel, fruity esters, light hopping & bitterness, hints of warming alcohol. M: Well-attenuated moderate body has an off-dry finish. D: A decent drinker for its strength.

Poured from a bottle, appearance was murky brown with thin off-white head. Nose of sweet malts, oats, hints of maple syrup and a little woodsy. Maple syrup was noticeable on the finish, beer was very creamy and not as sticky as I thought it would be. I was really surprised how NOT over the top sweet it was for having maple syrup in it. I really liked it!

Draft at Eulogy. Big dark earthy flavors. Well blended. Some juicy red fruits hiding inside. Some burned grassy notes. Heavy bodied but a nice smooth finish. Mushrooms and black pepper. Thumbs up!

Bottle... Poured deep, brownish, mahogany with a tan head. Nose syrup, brown sugar, and worty malt. A very sweet brew. Hints of brown sugar, malt, wood, earthy tones, prune juice and other dark fruits. Borderline barleywine-ish, sweet malt and strong booziness.

341ml bottle from 2010 - had it fresh and found it to intense so wanted to wait. Almost clear faded brown with a light tan head that fades to completely nothing. Lots of maple that overwhelms at first but eventually, after about 25 minutes of breathing settles down; apples, spice, alcohol, oak, some barleywine notes. Low carbonation and body, definitely sweet, lingering maple and malt finish. Delicious.

Foamy light tan head. Murky brown body. Aroma of maple syrup poured over hot sourdough pancakes. Very sweet flavor like a soft rounded scotch ale. Bit of bitterness on the back end. Not one of my favorites from Dieu du Ciel.

Bouteille 341 ml. Apparence: Couleur brun caramel, collet blanc. Arôme: sucré (sirop d’érable). Goût: sirop d’érable et alcool, bien dosés. Épais et enveloppant en bouche, finale douce. Bonne bière, composition complexe et équilibrée.

appearance is beautiful.thin white head and not much in the way of lacing.aroma is very sweet with maple, malt and citrus.flavor is malt and maple and incredible that this is 9.5 abv.this is truley one of the best scotch ales ive ever had and can be dangerous because its so delicious and can go down quick with the high abv.medium carbonationwith a creamy slick mouthfeel and has a sweet slightly bitter finish.normally i like my beers complex and this is not.its straight up maple and malt.if i blind tasted this i would have guessed an abbey double.this is absolutely delicious and you gotta try it.definitely going to one of my favorites

Dark brown ale with low carbonation and only a thin layer of foam. Fruity aroma and taste. Some caramel and dark fruits and alcohol warming at the end. For sure more balanced than the other beers from this brewer I had this week.

341 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy, orangeish brown with a beige-orange head. Smells like maple. Tastes sweet, like brown sugar. Slightly herbal bitter finish, with a touch of maple syrup. Maple remains after each gulp. Very good maple ale.
