4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 jhumphries69 (1035) - Tyrone, USA - AUG 12, 2009
33cl bottle. Pours a bright orangey-brown with a thin tan head that leaves some small streaks and spots of lace on the glass. Bubble gum aroma emanates as I pour from the bottle, but subsides (can’t smell it now). Chewy malt aroma - lots of caramel, lots of sticky malts, softfruit/gum esters, subtle spiciness/smokiness, not-so-subtle ethanol. The flavor follows the aroma: chewy malts with a lot of caramel and a mesmerizing combo of fruity esters + sticky-sweet malts. There is a subtle spiciness (phenol, not hops) and then toward mid-palate is the entrance of a tantalizing duo of fruity esters and soft earthy hops. The finish is full but manages to be slightly dry with a subtle spiciness, lots of caramel and toffee malts (touch of cocoa, too), and a noticeable taste of alcohol (but not unpleasant). The mouthfeel is more bubbly than expected - starts almost sharp with carbonation - but it dulls into a smooth, slippery, full-bodied liquid that leaves a velvety coating on the tongue. Overall, what a fantastic brew! (And strongly intoxicating for such a small portion)

Foamy light tan head. Murky brown body. Aroma of maple syrup poured over hot sourdough pancakes. Very sweet flavor like a soft rounded scotch ale. Bit of bitterness on the back end. Not one of my favorites from Dieu du Ciel.

appearance is beautiful.thin white head and not much in the way of lacing.aroma is very sweet with maple, malt and citrus.flavor is malt and maple and incredible that this is 9.5 abv.this is truley one of the best scotch ales ive ever had and can be dangerous because its so delicious and can go down quick with the high abv.medium carbonationwith a creamy slick mouthfeel and has a sweet slightly bitter finish.normally i like my beers complex and this is not.its straight up maple and malt.if i blind tasted this i would have guessed an abbey double.this is absolutely delicious and you gotta try it.definitely going to one of my favorites
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BartC (528) - Lichtaart, BELGIUM - APR 15, 2012
Dark brown ale with low carbonation and only a thin layer of foam. Fruity aroma and taste. Some caramel and dark fruits and alcohol warming at the end. For sure more balanced than the other beers from this brewer I had this week.

341 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy, orangeish brown with a beige-orange head. Smells like maple. Tastes sweet, like brown sugar. Slightly herbal bitter finish, with a touch of maple syrup. Maple remains after each gulp. Very good maple ale.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 AlainG (234) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 24, 2012

Aroma is quite subtle, but fruity. Beautiful wooden red colour. Not sure I taste the maple. A little too booze-y and sweet... Creates an aftertaste I dont love, but not bad overall.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 toffsbury (65) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 20, 2012
Aroma is sweet and sugary, almost candy. Pours rich deep brown, not very clear but extremely bubbly with a big lasting head. Taste is of maple and wood, sweet with a hint of saltwater. Nice thick body, and not too boozy. Tasted this on the Spring Equinox, which would make this bottle about a year old. Delicious.
