4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 jhumphries69 (1035) - Tyrone, USA - AUG 12, 2009
33cl bottle. Pours a bright orangey-brown with a thin tan head that leaves some small streaks and spots of lace on the glass. Bubble gum aroma emanates as I pour from the bottle, but subsides (can’t smell it now). Chewy malt aroma - lots of caramel, lots of sticky malts, softfruit/gum esters, subtle spiciness/smokiness, not-so-subtle ethanol. The flavor follows the aroma: chewy malts with a lot of caramel and a mesmerizing combo of fruity esters + sticky-sweet malts. There is a subtle spiciness (phenol, not hops) and then toward mid-palate is the entrance of a tantalizing duo of fruity esters and soft earthy hops. The finish is full but manages to be slightly dry with a subtle spiciness, lots of caramel and toffee malts (touch of cocoa, too), and a noticeable taste of alcohol (but not unpleasant). The mouthfeel is more bubbly than expected - starts almost sharp with carbonation - but it dulls into a smooth, slippery, full-bodied liquid that leaves a velvety coating on the tongue. Overall, what a fantastic brew! (And strongly intoxicating for such a small portion)
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 reebtogi (1524) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 26, 2012
341ml bottle pours a reddish brown color with a finger of light brown head that retains well and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is slightly smoky with some wood and earthy notes and a trace of maple. Taste is malty sweet with a woodiness and earthiness and a mild bitterness. Flavors and well blended and complex and I really enjoyed this beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Palme (1190) - Bergen, NORWAY - JAN 11, 2012
Tap @ Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. This one is a near murky reddish-brown beer with a massive and heavy lasting dense off-white head. Malty on the aroma with tones of sour fruit, spices, some alcohol and mainly; caramel. It’s average to lively carbonated and it has a fizzy mooshi mouthfeel. Tastes light sweet, its really malty, there is lots of fruity berries here. Type red. Hints of both wood, chocolate, caramel, warming alcohol and yeast-spicy towards the finish. I quite liked it - and considering I don’t really care way to much for these sweet scotch ales, this one was quite alright. 06.01.2012

12ounce bottle.
Aroma: maple, fruity malt, wood, earthy
Appearance: the label is great, the beer poured a cloudy brown/amber with minimal head
Taste: syrup, malty, woody, fruity
Palate: a nice medium-full body, not cloyingly sweet
Overall: Really a nice beer, I was expecting it to be very candy sweet, when it was not I was pleasantly surprised.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Powertrip (756) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 24, 2011
Single bottle purchased from Zyn Liqour on 11/06/2011 in Calgary, AB. Colour: A pleasent reddish to dark brown with low but creamy slightly brown head. Nose: The faintest hint of smoke lays in the background of a caramel dominant nose. The maple is hidden. There is a flighty peach waft somewhere in this. Taste: Medium-high sweet, light bitter, medium-light sour. Finally a touch of maple. Doesn’t feel like 9.1%abv which makes me question why it is. A tad sweet. Just didn’t sit well with me.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 5000 (3998) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - NOV 26, 2011
Bottle:   Deep caramel, moderate foamy off-white head, a few rings of lacing.   Alcohol infused
campfire, hints of maple syrup and peat.   Sweet maltiness on the tongue.   Caramel, peat, soft campfire, with
an underlying maple syrup.   Not the Mrs Butterworths, but that Canadian stuff thats real runny.   Seems
somewhat bright, to the point of being too alcoholic.   Finishes quick, leaving little on the backside.   Not
a complex Scotch Ale, and that Maple Syrup kinda throws me off.   Unique, but seems a bit thin on the finish.
  Meh...
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 VincentL (121) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 20, 2011
Odeur sucré qui rappelle l’érable. L’odeur est vraiment plaisante!
Brun foncé, opaque, mousse moyenne qui part vite.
