Headless with a clouded gold body. Great tart front. Tonic, lemon, cider vinegar. Very tasty but I don't know if it's worth the $18 I paid. Purchased at Metro Liquors.

>> Hazy neon straw pour with weak foam. Nose is funky, mild trash, oddies, mildew, vinegar, something like DMS, too much funk going overboard to just stinky. Taste is tangy, lemon acid, vanilla, slightly buttery, some vinegar. Palate brings some vinegar, salt. Needs some work.

Drank on tap (14 oz) at the brewpub (16th anniversary) on Septembre 13, 2014. Creamy blonde, thin head. Herb vinegar aroma, a bit of fruity notes. Much more fruitiness in the taste, strawberry herb flavor, good sour vinegar aftertaste. An impressive blende, hard core stuff!

(On tap at the DDC tap takeover @ barVolo, Aug 23 2014) Pours very hazy gold with no head. Aroma powerfully acetic, cider vinegar with hints of orange zest and raw wheat. Palate also acetic and dominated by cider vinegar with supporting grapefruit and pear. No real yeast or grain character, just a light funk with more sour apple on the finish. Moderate mouthfeel with light prickly carb. Not much too complexity which allows the acetic acid to overwhelm a bit. I was expecting this to be more lactic but maybe my nose was off! Still a pretty good sour but didn’t blow my mind.

2014-08-23. Hazy dark yellow body with a small white head. 3+ Aroma is pleasantly funky, lemon, other less defined fruit notes, barnyard and straw. 7++ Flavour is moderately sour up front, interesting melange of fruit and lactic sourness. Oddly bitter note in the finish clashes with the fruity sourness but Pretty nice. 7+ Smooth average plus bodied palate, soft to low carbonation. On tap at DDC Tap Takeover Event, Volo, Toronto

750ml bottle, bright clean golden color, with no head, with a light sour lemon juice, white wine tannin, mild funky, wild yeast nose, with some light sour pineapple, candied lemon, grapefruit peel, tart wheat malt mash accents, and a light yogurty lactobacillus sour, fruity, milky note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a mild sweet honeyed pear, pineapple fruit, light sour green apple, acidic lemony juice, bretty, wild, funky lacto yeasty character, with some subtle vanilla oak barrel, milkyish, sour yogurty, faint sour wheat, pale malt mash flavours, leading towards a bretty, funky, wild yeastiness, sour apple, pear, pineapple fruitiness, lingering acidic lemony, honeyed wheat malt, milkyish sourness finish.

(Rating #5482)

My Bottom Line:
Tart lemons, wheat crackers and lactobacillus ride this Sour Ale’s soft prickling, building an engaging drinking experience.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam crowns the misty blond.
-All flavors are well balanced.
-The souring bacteria is more intense than I had expected, especially in the nose.
-Drinkability remains quite high.
-Greenness seals each sip alongside the sourness.

Bottle.

Aside from the lack of carbonation this was a lovely, bone dry white with the wine like characteristics at he forefront, but never dominating. Crisp, refreshing and lots of potential.
