4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Glouglouburp (5562) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 20, 2013
In short: An intense fruity blond IPA for the bitterness lover.
How: Tap at brewpub, when it was very fresh, the first week of its initial release (late rating).
The look: Cloudy blond-orange body topped by a medium white head leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is juicy citrusy and tropical fruits. The aroma is very fruity but not to the point of feeling like it is made with a fruit (which it is), I know many "normal" IPAs that smeIl as fruity as this one. Taste is something else. A medium-sweet fruity attack followed by a monster bitterness of high intensity. I never had a Kumquat before (the fruit used in this IPA) but I didn’t think the beer smelled or tasted unusual, in the aroma and taste I noted plenty of orange flesh, mangos, peaches, grapefruits and such. All I know is this IPA was bitter as hell, not sure if the bitterness comes from the Kumquat, the hop bill or both. You’ve got to love bitterness to love this beer, I love bitter IPAs and I loved this over-the-top original creation. I had long conversations with the people at the bar while drinking six pints of this beer because if there is one thing I like to do when I go to the pub for a pint is to drink six of them (and I hate when people talk to me).

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jredmond (4009) - Manhattan, New York, USA - APR 25, 2013
Draft at blind tiger with streets and the RB gang. Pours a bright orange body with light haze and thick white lacing. Aroma is super floral, bitter fruit, lemon and spice. Mouthfeel is medium, nice carbonation with notes of flowers, spice, bitter grapefruit and some additional bitter citrus fruit flavors. I don’t get any kumquat out of this, but still a good IPA.

On tap at the brewpub. Beautiful hazy golden/orange body with an average white creamy/foamy head. Fresh, complex hoppy aroma with melon, grapefruit, and peach hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Its sharp hoppy taste carries citrusy and yeasty notes. Ends with a long, robust bitter finish. Very well done.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SlovakSniper (2115) - Candiac, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 24, 2013
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Melephant (6) - Saint Laurent, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 20, 2013 does not count
Had this on tap at Dieu du Ciel. Fortunella has a nice, fruity, citrus aroma. The beer has a clear, light golden colour to it. It has a sweet head, while the rest of it has a citrus (Kumquat) flavour, but the flavouring is not sour like some other fruit beers tend to be. The hops gives it some bitterness, which helps balance out the fruit flavour. Great beer! I will definitely purchase some if it comes out in bottle form!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 rodenbach99 (2508) - Longueuil, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 19, 2013
