Drank on tap (8 oz) at ther Montreal brewpub on May 29, 2013. Honey amber, medium head. Kumquats and sweet aroma of hops, very mild. Taste of dried kumquats, slightly hoppy, very dry bitterness. Too intense and I’m not a fan of disco!

Drank on tap (12 oz) at the brewpub on February 10, 2013. Honey blonde little head. Hoppy aroma kumquats (note: I do not know this fruit so I assume), a little juicy. Dry citrus taste with hints of green hops, fresh bitter herbs. I want to taste some kumquats!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours cloudy pale gold with one finger of rocky white head, excellent retention, moderate lacing. (4/5) Nose is multiple variations on citrus: pulp, pith, and rind, with tropical fruit sweetness and pale malt. (8/10) Taste is moderate sweet and moderate bitter. (8/10) Light to medium body, prickly to moderate sustained carbonation, and a bittersweet finish. (4/5)
Really solid A/IPA: bright and juicy citrus, lots of fun to drink. The cloudy gold colour makes it almost look like the orange juice it smells like. Not sure I could clearly identify the citrus as kumquat, as opposed to sweet mandarins, for example, but I’ll take their word for it. The initial flavour is all fairly high (yet well-balanced) sweet citrus, giving way to a nice hoppy bitterness towards the finish, and the ABV never makes an appearance. I could drink a lot of these. Très rafraichissante. Légèrement houblonnée. Il semble manqué un peu de goût par contre. Peut-être que le kumquat y est pour quelque chose. Mais très bonne bière de soif par exemple qui plaira à un large public.

Right here we have a pretty fun and fantastic IPA. IT’s not typical but also not extremely out there. It looks just wonderful and certainly lives up to its moniker; never have I seen such a clear beer with so much sediment. Perhaps sediment ain’t the right word, whatever is at play here is the most golden beer I have seen that just looks beautiful with a bounty of flaxen flecks a-floating. The smell if of potent but smooth citrus, floral hops, hay, cereal and honey. What I really enjoy about this beer is that the flavour is present but not in-your-face, the less is more approach works well. It’s slightly soft as far as carbonation goes but it leaves a fine bittersweet citrus aftertaste and hides the ol’ boozeroony as if it weren’t there at all.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap BrewDog Manchester. Pours hazy amber with a medium-sized that leaves plenty of lacing. The aroma showcases the tropical fruit elements; peach, mango and, indeed, kumquat, push to the forefront. Taste is fairly sweet for an IPA with tropical fruits and some grassy notes appearing. Dryness and hoppy bitterness rise toward finish, though. The palate is medium-bodied with an excellent drinkability. Nice fruity IPA.

Nicely balanced subtle IPA. Aroma is fresh and grassy, not too bitter, present malty backbone. Good stuff, impressively balanced, which in this case might not be a good thing.

Rating #1089 - May 19, 2014 - #mondaynightbeers @RevolutionYEG. Pours a rich golden, small white head, minimal lacing. Aroma is peachy-mango tangerine-kumquat. On the palate, similar tropical flavours, mild resin, mild pastry dough malt. Medium bodied and extraordinarily balanced. Great depth and crushable at 7.2%.
