COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fumisterie is a beer that sits at the intersection of an english and german ale. It is full-bodied, malty and has a slight caramel flavour. The organic hemp seeds incorporated during the brewing process give it a unique and original taste. The hop flavour comes through delicately in the after taste.

Fumisterie, which loosely translates as “smoke screen”, was given its name in reaction to laws – created under false pretext – that prohibit hemp crops, a beneficial plant with multiple ecological uses.

Tasted in 2009. Gold in color with a small white head. Aroma is of earth, malt, herbs. Taste is herbal with some malt, a hint of mint and some earthiness.

341 ml bottle. Pours copper, slight ruby, in colour, slightly off-white head. Lots of lacing. Aroma is slightly balanced to the marris otter like malt, taste is a nice bitter hit of hops. Slighlty interesting flavour, maybe from the hemp? Not bad.

341ml bottle pours amber in color with a 2 finger off-white head that retains well and leaves some fairly thick lacing on the glass. Aroma is toasty malts and citrusy hops. Taste is light caramel malty sweetness with a bolder citrus hop bitterness and some earthy/nutty notes. Light to medium body and nice carbonation leave a nice feeling on the tongue. This is an interesting beer and definitely worth a try.

Unclear orange of color with a beige head. An aroma of malt, bread, herbs, bitter and dried fruits. A flavor of malt, bitter, bread and weak caramel.

Pour the pint/open the bottle and taste it. Five or ten mind later it tastes even better. An amazing beer full of flavour and ridiculously nom. It’s the type of beer that keeps on giving and you never get bored of it. No need to be condescending - its just delicious.

Sampled at the brewpub, in company of S8n on September 17, 2005. This red hemp ale pours a beautiful cream white head with good retention, leaving a nice creamy coat. Its colour is golden-amber and red. The lacing left is great. The aromas are of hop and alcohol, but not too strong. Mild creamy and dry mouthfeel, and quite smooth. Good bitterness in the taste, throughout, with slight grain malt and a dry finish.

‘’It grows on you’’ comme dirait les anglais.

341ml brown bottle. Orange colour, some haze. Good full looking creamy off white head. Thick clingy lace. Citrusy nose, toasty malts. Flavor is toasty, nutty, citrusy hop flavours. Good bitterness, lingering toasty dry finish. Average carbonation. Light to medium body and overall pretty mellow and drinkable.

Not very smokey. 341 ml bottle some caramel, notes of hempseed and similarly flavored hops. Overall a decent beer but not something I’d drink again. Pretty interesting though.
