COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Alt is a classic German ale from the Düsseldorf region. It has dark copper colours which can be reminiscent of English Pale Ales. By using a different type of yeast, the aromas are less fruity and more neutral than a pale ale. The use of different types of malt also gives the beer a less caramel flavour than the English ales. To taste, the beer is mildly bitter and has fresh cereal flavours.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours a dark ruby tinged brown, head receeded to a decent cream ring. Aroma of subtle sweet cereal, Czech hops. Taste is biscuit, some fruity notes. Pleasing finish. Pretty good.

Draught, 5.4% at the brewpub. Nutty aroma, hint of sour rag. Almost clear dark amber colour. Creamy tan head. The flavour is roasted with a rough bitterness. OK mouthfeel.

Dark brown tan cap, aroma like fresh whole grain, creamy delicious malt flavors, hint toffee & burlap, great hop dryness. - MORE NOTES SECOND SAMPLE THE NEXT DAY Dark red-brown coat, small tan cap, great aromas fruit and cocoa play out in taste, which is dry with a grippy top palate, I swear this has some chocolate malts! (Same score give each day.)

Fairly uninspired for dieu du ciel. Quite dark for an alt. Kind of copper colour with a white head. sweet aroma and taste with a little noble hop bitterness. Ticks all the boxes and is quite tasty but nothing special. Would make a decent session but nothing more.

Tap at brewpub. A style I love and a brewer I love; what went wrong? It’s in the style and quite well done but it may lack maltiness and hop bitterness. Not such a thin body for 5% and there are notes of caramel and discreet citrus bitterness in the taste. I wouldn’t like altbiers and DDC that much if these were the standards

on tap at DDC. Crap this is good altbier. Pours a medium to deep copper in the .5 liter- thinlasting head and nice lace. Aroma is slightly roasty- good nutty malt, caramel swetness, toasty and dark bready malts with a good herbal and slight green hop character. Flavor is very clean0 great caramel malt, vienna toasted malts, bready, witha a great hoppey flavor and clean hoppy bitterness. This stuff was awesome!

On tap at DDC. Thick white head. Creamy mouthfeel, roasted malt flavor and bitterness is really present. Simple and enjoyable, though the WOW factor is maybe less present than for a lot of their beer.
