COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

From tap at BierCarb, Barcelona. Black color with small dark beige head. Aroma is roasted malty, coffee, light chocolate and hazelnuts. Taste is sweet and light bitter. Medium to light body, oily, soft carbonation. I liked it more the first time I tried it at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012.

I didn’t think many 100% beers would be under the radar for me, but this one was. Very comparable to Rasputin in that it’s a great classic RIS that is just a little bit over-hopped (in a good way). This was a delicious treat and I’ll be keeping an eye out for more. Not hot at all, but drinks bigger than it’s abv.

Not as sweet as the nose lent me to believe, more coffeeish and and reminiscent of a coffee crisp. 8.5%, where? Hops presence appear restrained, but bitterness coats the tongue sides after a few sips. What I prefer about it has got the be the mouthfeel, very comfortable and pleasant medium-full with just the right carbonation. A big glass of flavourful cream with vanilla notes, velvety if not too complex

Once imbibed, an ample milky crème brûlée is obviously reminiscent of a Péché Mortel without coffee...Roastiness persists, as grassy hop bitterness struggles to get through the huge body...Alcohol is expertly hidden and this can become a severely dangerous Imperial Stout... No specific identity stands out in this impy, which might be the sole reason why I am not in love with it like I love Péché Mortel.

Tap. Pours a thick pitch black with a really nice on-finger chestnut head. Aroma is surprisingly packed with berries! Then after some sniffs it reveals dark chocolate, roasted coffee, caramel and dark dried fruits, dates especially. Taste is again very fruity fresh berries among loads of caramel. Sweet but balanced by a roasty dark chocolate bitterness. Smooth mouthful and really rich and have this kind of fruity berrinness that’s goes really well with the dense beer. Dieu de Ciel certainly make some high end and delicate beers!

Kawowy i czekoladowy aromat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Biercab. Black colour with dense brown head. Wood and vanilla aroma. Intense chocolate taste, sweet, some roastiness, also vanilla and wood. Medium to full body.

Draft at GBD, this was about inning 12 of that ridiculous 18 inning Nationals/Giants game. Poured a dark, almost pitch black brown color with a tan head. Aroma was roasted malts, light burnt coffee. Flavor was dark chocolate, some anise, bitter roasted malts. Pretty solid, though perhaps a little more bitter than I hoped.

At Eurhop festival in Rome-Italy. Pours the closest to deep black, dark ivory minimal foam who stays there with bubbles. Nose: massive attack of coffee, toasted malt. Mouth: dark chocolate, coffee, with a round sweet final. Simply great! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
