4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the beerbistro. Pours a near black, oily dark brown with big, lasting brown head. Aroma has an interesting amalgam of roasty coffee, dark fruit, molasses and anise. Flavour is more fruity than anticipated with dark fruits and berries, molasses, anise and understated roasty coffee character. Very fine, reasonably lively carbonation. Dangerously easy to drink. Wow!

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
March 21, 2014. On tap at beerbistro. Yet another Dieu du Ciel beer that I much prefer on tap. Very, very smooth beer. Coffee and chocolate on the nose. Very dark colour, with dark tan head, lovely lacing as I was drinking. Coffee and dark chocolate flavours, lovely silky mouthfeel. The bitterness I remember from drinking this on a previous occasion from a bottle is mostly gone when on tap. Very nice beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
11.5oz thick bottle. Deep opaque black body. Thin beige head fades away after a few sips. Relatively muted and sublime chocolate aroma. Oily and rich, quite a massive mouthfeel. Big bitterness in addition to huge malt tones. Real deal Imperial Stout, quality. Oily blanket of specialty malt smoothness, reminiscent of some Scandinavian examples. Chocolate dominated but also some licorice, tobacco, leather come out at it warms. An excellent beer.

Opaque black, beige head. Mild aroma of coffee, chocolate, and caramel. A little sweetness, but quickly gives way to black coffee bitterness. Smooth, moderate carb, and a lingering bitter finish

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
11.5 oz bottle from Mile High Wine & Spirits. Black with a small brown head, minimal lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, rich chocolate, lactose, caramel, pine and earthy hops. Similar flavor, malty, roasty and bittersweet, nicely balanced, the alcohol is hidden well. Medium to full body with a robust finish. Very good.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A pretty typical stout in terms of pour, aroma, and flavors, but I still really enjoyed this one. Tons of roasted, earthy malt and coffee flavors with some bread, toffee, burnt caramel, and dark chocolate notes. Really well balanced.
