COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

Rating #862 - December 28, 2013 - Bottle in a DDC trade-off with @plunkie. Big bubbly black pour with a tan head that erupts from an aggressive pour. Aroma is heavy roast malt, caramel, mild vanilla. Taste is roast malt espressoey bitterness, medium-heavy alcohol character, but well tempered with the luxurious toffee sweetness. Impressive.

Extreme dark black pour with medium creamy mocha top. Awesome smell of espresso and dark chocolate nicely blended with the malts. Also a little bit of hops in the aroma too. Oh Yeah! First taste is a beauty! Dark bitter coffee and the purest chocolate one can find. It’s like an ice espresso with alcohol, which is well hidden by the way. The bitter lasts and lasts, great! Thick and full bodied with a dry finish on the back of the tongue. Low in fizzies. From trade with Alehunter, thanks Dominic, fantastic brew.

Pours like motor oil. 1/2" tan head. Tons of flavor. Coffee, hops. Slightly oily mouthfeel. So smooth. Wow.

Cheers!

Bottle thanks to Reynolds314 ! Pours a deep black umber color with two fingers of sticky khaki foam. The nose is big roast, loads of sweet brownie batter, raisin and molasses. The palate follows the nose with added complexity of licorice, huge roast profile with touches of bakers chocolate, vanilla and a nice punch of pine bitterness in the finish. Great creamy mouthfeel with a nice medium carbonation and a long lingering finish.

Bottled 11/12. Drank Nov 24, ?13.Pours black as night with a thin layer of mocha bubbles for a head. Big alcohol legs. Aroma is huge. Big notes of bitter chocolate and roasted malts mixed with a touch of burnt espresso, milk chocolate, and alcohol.Taste is complex. It starts with a huge bitter blended with big roasted malt notes, then goes to a bitter dark chocolate, and finishes with a burnt coffee, bitter ending that doesn?t quit. Full body with a low carbonation. A bit oily/slick in the mouth but not very sweet. A bit creamy with with a semi-dry finish and nearly no trace of alcohol in the taste.Overall this huge beer. One of the most well-rounded, tasty imperial stouts I?ve had. Not overly sweet or cloying. Easy to sip on and enjoy. Will buy again!

330ml bottle into an English pint glass. Pours black with a fluffy tan head. Big roasted malt nose. Rich flavour of malts and caramel and a bit of bitterness. A bit viscous on the palate, but warming. Booziness masked. A very pleasant stout.
