4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 kmweaver (3151) - Petaluma, California, USA - SEP 15, 2008
Draft @ DDC 10th Anniversary Party. Pours a very dark, chocolate-brown color; creamy, textured medium-brown head with great retention and fine-bubbled lacing; a gorgeous beer. Lots of roasted malts, bitter chocolate, and dry cocoa in the aroma; hidden alcohol; soft, generous nose. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: plenty of roasted nuts, roasted malts, dark chocolate and bitter cocoa; soft edges; creamy, complex, highly roasted and lots of bitter chocolate; very drinkable, nutty, enjoyable imperial stout. Lengthy finish: roasted / charred malts, nuttiness and dark chocolate; nicely dry.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 elihapa (1488) - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA - MAY 16, 2008
UPDATED: APR 5, 2009 1/18/08 notes: on tap at DdC. Hands down best beer of the night which included Peche Mortel. Features a brown head that doesn’t go away. Flavors include creamy vanilla, nutty, and a little malt sweetness, Perfect balance and thick mouthfeel makes this a real pleasure to drink. This is really something special. I think the vanilla and creamy mouthfeel set this apart.
4/3/09 notes: in bomber at DdC, special 1 1/2 year-aged bottle version. More molasses and chocolate malt in the nose, but body is just as rich and creamy as I remember. I agree with bedainedebiere, this is montreal’s best Impy Stout other than Peche Mortel.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 usbadass (17) - Massachusetts, USA - JAN 6, 2008
Dark to opaque black beer with a nice head that lasts and leaves nice lacing. Aromas of dark roasty malts, chocolate, coffee, caramel, hints of vanilla, and sweet spice. Taste is very heavy, hints of dark fruit, chocolate, and coffee. Mouthfeel is thick, and drinkability is very good for a beer of this size.

Draft @ DDC. Incredible look that i actually had to take a picture... best description i can give is like if there was dark clouds leading to the very creamy brown head... Great lacing as well.... Presentation A1. Aromas of dates, licorice, black cherries, alcohol, candy, roasted malts and hints of liquid smoke. Palate is extraordinarily and amazingly creamy and well balanced. Thick body... did i say creamy? Flavors are farely sweet and alcohol... simply amazing!

Bottle at LCRBM3. My first Dieu de Ciel beer. Black, tan lasting head. Good intense impy stout. Oily in mouth. Good intense espresso coffee, charcoal. Not too heavy on the hop and quite superb.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MesandSim (7118) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 16, 2007
A Mes rate:
Bottle at LCRBM3. Black body with a tan head, nice consistency. Chocolate malt, liquorice and some light roasty notes. Plenty of alcohol showing giving some clear warmth on the way down. Maybe a little too much. Thick mouthfeel feels very luxurious. Nice earthy finish. Great but could be even better without the alcohol showing so much.

3rd LCRBM. Aroma has chocolate, licorice, roasted malts, some wood. Opaque black coloured, with a brown fluorescent head, slick stuff on the glassware. Taste has chocolate bitterness and is a litlle sweet. Has prunes, licorice, some wood and hops. Full bodied and thick. Nice Imperial stout.
