COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

341 ml bottle. My 333rd imperial stout that also happens to be the day of the year i was born. Dark brown with a foamy tan head. Nose is chocolate, caramel, wood and dried fig. Beautifully thick and creamy finishing with a tang then dry and airy. Almost like this is on nitro. Taste is espresso, bittersweet chocolate, coconut, citrus peel and burnt sugar. Drinks like a dream.

Draft to goblet Aroma of dark chocolate and coffee. Opaque brown with a bubbly brown head. Nice string chocolate taste with a malty finish.

On tap at the Underground. Black body with a thin rocky cap floating on top. Fuck ya first sniff blew my mind. Big chocolate, hints of dark sweet rum ( think Zyia if you know that rum ) vanilla, and more stuff that is good and yummy. Taste is both creamy smooth and yet some abrasive and harsh....... Milk chocolate, ash, chalk, dirt, perfume. Smells better then it tastes. I am hitting hints of the not so high 8.5%. The finish and after taste is huge. I think I hit orange but that might be because I read VBS’s review. I liked it but I’ll never buy it again.

341 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a full mocha head. Aroma: Rich chocolate, molasses bordering on licorice, quite sweet-smelling, a touch fruity, quite nice. Palate: Medium-full body with sparse, prickly effervescence, slightly chalky. Flav.: A bit deeper and darker than the nose, less of the sweeter notes, more black coffee and a bit less dark chocolate, resinous hops, a little booze; dry with big bitterness, booze and a long, mouth-coating dark-roasted malt finish.

Grande indeed.

12oz glass on tap at the Underground Tap and Grill pours a deep black color with a finger of light tan head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is chocolate with hints of coffee. Taste is a roasted grain bitterness balanced nicely with a chocolate malty sweetness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, a very well done stout that I highly recommend to others.

2012 bottle. pours jet black with a nice finger of coffee tan head. Nice retention on the head, the smell is your typical RIS, hints of coffee and dark malts. Great beer, the booze is well hidden, has a nice finish, and leaves a warming effect. Would love them to BA this sucker.

Fantastic beer. This black, low carb with a low tan head and tons of lacing. Smell is sweet chocolate, coffee, dirt and caramel. Caramel and bakers chocolate, some coffee with no sign of booze. Very drinkable.

On tap at Underground. This is damn good shit. Black, medium brown sticky bubbly cap, stupid lacing. Dark chocolate everywhere, thick earthy malts, caramel, possible orange fruitiness, roasted nuts, deep dark nose, molasses. Flavour is the same with a more dry, chewy goodness. There is a lightness to be found which is surprising. Burnt, deep deep roast, bakers choco bitterness, acidic touch, bark. Hard and nasty. Perfect. Gonna be hard to get this taste out of my mouth. I won’t be trying to hard to do that.

Thanks to Tommy for this one. Aroma is burnt toast, light chocolate, mild dark fruits. Taste is a bit bland up front and then ramps up to heavy ashy bitterness and light chocolate. Interesting stout and pretty nice.

Sampled in the stout off, big thanks to tommy, ashy and bitter, not mug for sweetness, very interesting stout
