COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

Fantastic stout. Just purchased at Moeder Lambic in Brussels. They just arrived. In line with most stouts. Has a light foam but is rich in taste.

Very dark with a small amount of dark khaki head that sticks around the rim. Smells of anise, plum, raisin, chocolate, vanilla, alcohol. An ashy sweet roasted chocolate taste with roasted bitter throughout, some cocoa, coffee, anise. Lots of the roasted chocolate taste that is very good balance of sweetness and hops. Cigarette ash like bitter. Caramel malt. A very good sipper. Medium mouthfeel, not too thick. Light carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Torst wih Kimberly and Taylor. Pours black with zero head. Aroma is roasted malt, dark berries, hint of musky notes. Taste is musky roasty malt, very dark roast, muted burnt berries, harsh flavors working together in an oddly smooth way.

Wonderful stout with a nice thick yet smooth palette. It tastes better as you let it sit out for a while. Highly recommended. Another great beer from Dieu du Ciel.

Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours dark brn/blk with a slight dark tan head that didnít last long. Aroma is very dark malt with a hint of anise. Full bodied. Flavor is bitter dark malt. Still getting something suggesting anise. Also very dark bitter chocolate. Thereís a huge amount of malt, but it is so bitter that itís not very sweet. All in all this is a dark bitter and extremely tasty beer, tho perhaps a tad challenging. Good stuff.

Pours inky and black with a medium brown head, good retention, very fine lacing. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, some fruity notes, maybe pineapple, toast, and pine. Full chewy body, velvety, dry. Mildly sweet, mild citrus, with a creeping medium bitter finish. A little boozy. This would probably age well.
