COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

341ml bottle from jsprime. pitch black, brown head. nice roasty dark malt nose. the flavour is dominated by roasted malt and is quite bitter. the body is thin for the style and there is not enough sweetness to balance the roast and the hops. peche kills this stuff.

Pitch black body, minimal khaki colored head, spotty lacing. Nose is heavily roasted. Roast coffee, roasted barley, bittersweet chocolate, light caramel, some traces of smoke. Flavor follows suit. More roast. Intense bitterness. Full bodied, gentle carbonation, earthy, roasty, bitter, dry finish.

Bottle. Pitch black with a thick mocha head with great retention. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, smokey notes, vanilla and some herbal notes. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, tobacco and herbal hops with a hint of wood and alcohol and a bitter aftertaste. Medium to full body with a creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle from MartinT. I must get around to deciding whether Impy stouts or Bohemian Pilseners is my favorite style. I love them both dearly and both can be so diverse. But let’s get down to brass tacks here shall we? First and foremost, I disagree with their bitterness qualification. It is not imposing. Imposing bitterness is the hatred and bias that Slovaks have against both the Russians and the Hungarians. That there is some bitterness. I will give em the intense black and dense part. Large burnt sienna head. Roastyness does abound....alcohol is present and hidden in the maze of malt layers. It (the alcohol) is much like a burlesque dancer showing you nothing and just enough at the same time. Leave it to the French Canadians to pick on the Russians thru beer....something the Ruskies cant make worth a damn. My this is a fine brew. Martin, what’ll it take for you to send more?

Un autre grand chelem pour Dieu du Ciel! Bière d’un noir encre, odeur et goût très torréfié, rôti, café. Excellent.

Pours a liquid tar black with a 2 finger brown head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, cocaine. Taste is heavy roast, bitter malts and just a touching hop hit. Milkshake mouth feel. Creamy. Very good.

(Lot-1 Embout. 11-12) (473-111112/021212)

Pours jet black with a toffee head, well laced. Aroma of stewed fruit and chocolate and toffee. Complex, it develops a layered aroma once it opens up. Big flavours, toffee and burnt bitterness. Rich brew. Well done.
