COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

Bottle @All My Vinyl Tasting, Edinburgh. Pours thick and black with low to no carbonation. Licorice on the nose with some toffee/chocolate sweetness as well. There is something quite fruity about this on the taste buds, coffee not a lot but some, nice, it just do with something more, to take it to the next level.

Bottled. Poured black with a short-lived head. The aroma picked up lots of coffee and roasty black malts with light accents of vanilla and smoke.. not super complex, but well done. The flavor found similar.. well-roasted black malts and coffee plus a light hit of licorice at the core.. more roast and a hint of berries around.. picked up some warmth on the long, roasty finish. Heavier-bodied with fairly high carbonation.. good feel and flow.. very good, but not spectacular.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours black with a brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of smoked salty meat with roasted malts, dark grains and a bit of booze. Flavor is similar with dark grains and bitter roasted malts up front as well as growing smokey meat notes and a hint of booze.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a deep brown / black appearance with a dark brown head. Holy smokes, there’s a ton of roast and a bunch of caramel / taffy notes in the nose. Gooey caramel / toffee / chocolate aroma. Medium bodied. Moderate to high bitterness. Some piney notes. Rich caramel, goopy chocolate flavor. Finishes smooth. Molasses, some dark fruity / date notes but still well balanced. Drinks pretty fucken good.

Bottle fromProof. Black pour with a small dark tan head. Big roasted malt aroma, with touches of smoke and ash along with black cherry, plum, raisins and tobacco leafs. Flavor is very similar but falls a limitless thin in the palate with average carbonation and medium body. No noticeable alcohol. Pretty good.
