COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

Bottled sample via BreWedge, shared wtih oakbluff. Near black in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of milk chocolate, earthy coffee, and caramel. Flavors are of sharp and roasty (but not astringent) coffee bean, vanilla caramel, and dark chocolate. Lighter bodied for the style, but very drinkable. More of a sessionable take on the style, but still very tasty.

Bottle at Black Sunday thanks to Paul. Pours black with medium tan head that lasts. The aroma is roast, wood, dark fruit, caramel. Chunky mouthfeel with nice bitterness, with chocolate and caramel malt, nice light boze with roast getting more intese and lingering as the beer warms. The coffee gives it a nice balance throughout, very nice.

From bottle. This pours black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, a little chocolate and coffee. Taste is first smoke from the roasting, then a slight sweetness rounds the flavor of the malts and chocolate. Medium full mouthfeel. A delicious and wonderful imperial stout.

On tap at the Party Source in Cincy/Kentucky. Black pour with a brown head. Big roasty, coffee, boozy aroma. Tastes of coffee, bakers chocolate, licorice, sweet malt, burnt ashy. Thin palate. Lots going on, but can’t say it’s to my tastes or would need to seek it out again. - 7.2

4oz on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Black color. Thin tan head. Dots of lace. Awesome roast malt, dark fruit, big coffee. Some vanilla, a touch of molasses. Bigger body. Good big chewy velvety texture, kind of slick finish, lighter carbonation. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, moderate sweet, light alcohol warmth. Fantastic imperial stout.

Bottle from Corvallis Brew Supply, Corvallis. Pours an opaque black/brown, good amount of tan head. Aroma roasty, herbal, dark chocolate. Body thick and full, with a smoky, grassy bitter character. Fucking superb, really,

Pours very dark, nearly pitch black. Brown head. Initial aroma on pouring gave me the impression of molasses. First impressions are excellent with big flavours of chocolate, molasses, and awesome. This is an excellent stout and would drink again, wish I had a bigger bottle right now.
