Commercial Description:
The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

A pitch black beer wtih a lasting brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted with light notes of coffee - and in general the aroma is a bit light, but that was just coming off Peche Mortel. The flavor is sweet with coffee dominating, but also with lots of roasted malt. Another nice brew from Dieu du Ciel.

Black colour with dark brown head. Rich coffeeish, chocolatey aroma. Nothing unusual here, but done very nicely. Creamy body..luscious...with lots of chocolate and espresso this is a very decadent take on the style, without any stinging roast or rich fruit. Beautiful. A rare beer that seems to actually work well with nitrogen.

(draught, RBSG05) Lovely tan head atop a black body. Aroma is rich milk chocolate, light roasty. Taste is rich, chocolate, some roasty, light alcohol. Creamy full body. Sort of a dry imperial stout.

Bottle at LCRBM3. My first Dieu de Ciel beer. Black, tan lasting head. Good intense impy stout. Oily in mouth. Good intense espresso coffee, charcoal. Not too heavy on the hop and quite superb.

Unlabeled bottle, from october 2006. 3rd LCRBM. Milk, roasted malt and coffee in the aroma. Sweetish at first, but this is beaten by the warm alcoholic, and full bodied malty flavor. Hint of licorice. Earthy hops. Long creamy bitter aftertaste. Great balance. World class beer!

A Mes rate: Bottle at LCRBM3. Black body with a tan head, nice consistency. Chocolate malt, liquorice and some light roasty notes. Plenty of alcohol showing giving some clear warmth on the way down. Maybe a little too much. Thick mouthfeel feels very luxurious. Nice earthy finish. Great but could be even better without the alcohol showing so much.

Black, not totally opaque with a cm perfectly laced and sticking to the glass coffee coloured head (nitrogen). A rather subtle nose for an imperial stout, chocolatey and cofeeish. Milky palate with a strong coffee aftertaste (cappucino, espresso, they're all there). Not as sweet as the nose lent me to believe, more coffeeish and and reminiscent of a coffee crisp. 8.5%, where? Hops presence appear restrained, but bitterness coats the tongue sides after a few sips. What I prefer about it has got the be the mouthfeel, very comfortable and pleasant medium-full with just the right carbonation. A big glass of flavourful cream with vanilla notes, velvety if not too complex. The comparison to Bièropholie's imperial stout is mandatory..

Nitro...RBSG2005... This beer rocks!...Pitch black ale with a mid-sized, creamy, well-tanned head. Excellent retention. Nose and flavor is all milk chocolate, vanilla and espresso. Burnt, malty and rich. Full-bodied and very creamy with mild carbonation. Finishes chocolatey and dry. Simple, but delicious. Chocolate cake in a glass. Another world class beer from a world class brewery!
