The Grande Noirceur is an intensely black and dense beer with pronounced roasted flavours. The bitterness is very imposing but is balanced by a malty-caramel taste. The alcohol content is quite high, but its presence remains discrete in this beer.

ABV initially 8.5%, changed in late 2012 to 9%.

Espresso malt bitter coffee awesomeness. This is a great beer would be interested to try it barrel aged. Picked it up at Bières Du Monde in Aylmer

Fantastic stout. Just purchased at Moeder Lambic in Brussels. They just arrived. In line with most stouts. Has a light foam but is rich in taste.

A pitch black beer wtih a lasting brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted with light notes of coffee - and in general the aroma is a bit light, but that was just coming off Peche Mortel. The flavor is sweet with coffee dominating, but also with lots of roasted malt. Another nice brew from Dieu du Ciel.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2013 Pours an opaque black with a big creamy dark brown head and spotty lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, toast, caramel and a very light alcohol in the background. Taste is a syrupy full bodied burnt chocolate, roasted malts, full flavored espresso with a molasses finish. Huge body and flavor on this one that you should drink at the proper temp for full flavor. Great imperial stout!

Loved this stout. Very dark colour as you'd expect. Sweet rum like aroma. Tastes is is full of dark chocolate, with hints of smokiness coming through. Nice lingering taste with balanced bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(12 oz bottle) - Scant dark tan head. Black opaque body. Aroma of black strap molasses and brown sugars. Rap thick body. Heavy flavors from roasted malt, which lingers on the tongue for quite some time. Surprising carbonation amount, to the betterment. Yet another top notch beer from this Canadian gem of a brewpub!

Black, thick tan nitro head, lots of lacing. Nose of rich dark malts, very creamy, rich, nutty, delicious. Did I say rich? The flavor has some DMS but it blends well into the light oak, coffee and extremely tasty sweet chocolate. Delicious! Strawberry, chocolate covered peanuts. Very creamy.

341 ml bottle. Pours pitch black, could not spot any light going through it! Dark beige, very resilient head. Smell is roasted coffee beans. Taste is roast, strong black cocoa, burnt caramel, crème brûlée, coffee. Finish is bitter, a touch of citrus, but mostly an avalanche of black chocolate, cocoa and coffee. Very thick body. Weak carbonation. A very, very solid imperial stout.
