RBSG 05. Pours a deep dark black with a long lasting deep beige head that almost glistens in the light. Aroma of some chocolate malt and roast barley with lots of coffee. Flavor is a light burnt chocolate, lots of roasted barley, dark roasted coffee, burnt malt, molasses and caramel along with some fruits and a hop bitterness in the end.

Unlabeled bottle, from october 2006. 3rd LCRBM. Milk, roasted malt and coffee in the aroma. Sweetish at first, but this is beaten by the warm alcoholic, and full bodied malty flavor. Hint of licorice. Earthy hops. Long creamy bitter aftertaste. Great balance. World class beer!

Sampled from bottle aged 6 months at the brewpub. Black in colour with a tan colour head, yeast floaties. Wonderful aroma of bittersweet chocolate, some coffee and vanilla. Flavour of chocolate, coffee, espresso, very creamy, slightly bitter. Huge body, wonderful mouthfeel with no alcohol to be found. Finish is very dry and long. A lighter Péché Mortel? Excellent imperial.

Creamy, soft, full-bodied feel. Complex, roasty flavour of chocolate & coffee w/ some nice fruity aspects. Finish is very bitter & warm w/ alcohol.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2006 Draught. At Dieu du Ciel. Opaque ruby-black with a decent lasting tan head. Deep dark roast malt aroma, hints of baker’s chocolate, roasted coffee beans, nutshells - very mysterious and restrained. Taste - oh, God this is good - smooth, dark and not very sweet at all but the bitterness is so restrained, as the aroma promises, that it’s balanced, creamy, with a long finish - wow. Thick, smooth and creamy body, lovely and long-finishing, only vaguely acidic and alcoholic. Top-notch, this is a winner.

On tap at the brewpub.
Jet black pour, big mocha head. Huge aroma of roasted, burnt malts. Sme hops are present, but this is a big roasted malt, smoky, intense stout. Quite bitter, and there are notes of coffee and licorice. A wonderful roastiness grabs your throat and doesnt let go. Very nice!
