3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 puzzl (3093) - New York, USA - FEB 24, 2008
Tap at the brewpub. Very malty, light spice aroma, grains of paradise, rye. Chewy, muddled, not too saison-y. Flavor is dry and malty, kind of extract tasting, very husky, lots of wheat. Tastes more like an American Wheat. I didn’t know this was a rye saison when I was drinking it, I guess that’s perhaps why it doesn’t really come across as a saison at all.

Tap @ DDC. This is very much like the Hopfenstark saison du repos I had earlier. The difference is in the taste, much more grassy and grainy than the sour fruit of the hopfenstark. Enjoyable but ordinary.

On tap at the brewpub. Nice aroma of rye, some subtle hops, and a touch of peppery funk. The flavor is more hops, and rye, with a minimal amount of funk. Not a bad saison but it could use some more tartness.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 josarah (109) - Hinesburg, Vermont, USA - JUL 21, 2008
Tap at VBF, off white head, nose of rye. This beer reallys shows it’s grains. I had this outside on a really hot afternoon and it was perfect.

(Rating #1764)

O tap at D.D.C. The color is a hazy blonde with an off white head. The taste is of spicies and malt with some bitterness, also added is a taste of fruits mostly apples.

On tap at DDC. Zest orange aroma. Cloudy yellowish orange, medium white head. Great zesty citrus taste with a neat malt background. Spicy. Good refreshing stuff.

Draught (6 oz. sample) at Dieu du Ciel! Slightly hazy light gold with a medium white head. Aroma is fruity and subtle with hints of coriander and tingly spice. Flavour follows with the same character. Soft body. A little light for my tastes, but still quite nice.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Eructoblaster (2122) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 2, 2007
Hazy blond body with low carbonation and a thick, lasting white foamy head. Nice malty/hoppy aroma with bready, coriander, herbal and spicy hints. Taste is well balanced. It carries rye, herbal and coriander notes. Ends with a sharp hoppy finish. Very well done.

At the brewpub. A changeup of a saison, as the rye truly dominates, followed with some sourness, pepper, a drop of yeast, and above average carbonation. Lacey. Much better with food.
