3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle. Color is deep black with light tan head. Aroma is roasted nuts, malts and farmhouse yeast. Smells real nice.
Flavor has some lingering roast, old chocolate, weak coffee and some earthy bitterness in the finish. Grassy hops and some strange molasses note. Medium body with a creamy texture.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pitch black. uber roasted nose. walnuts, pecan and bitter pineapple. Very creamy mouthfeel, very high in ash and nutty with fruits. It’s not bad but hard to really drink a lot of it.

9.5% Shared by Mick. Black stout like pour with a huge head of tan foam. Really interesting nose citrusy hops, dark malts, & chocolatey goodness. Medium-thin bodied, sweet fruity citrus hops, rich roasty chocolate malts, zesty really good though I don’t get much saison like from it. Like a soft subtle black IPA.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle at home. Pours dark brown to black in color with a large, fine khaki colored head. The aroma has roasted malts, chocolate, some mild herbal notes, more like a lightly hoppy imperial stout. The flavor has some of the roasted malts and chocolate from the nose, but adds more herbal, fruity, and yeast notes. The body is not as big and thick as an imperial stout. Interesting combination of things going on here. Some bitterness to the finish.

Bottle to snifter (thanks DuffMan). Looks good; an opaque dull black with foamy tan head. Smells of dark malt and mild roast with notes of saison yeast and spices. Tastes like it smells with a pleasantly lively mouthfeel. Some unaversive bitterness from the roast as well. Good beer.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2014 pours black with a huge tan head. good lacing and retention. Aroma is brown sugar, chocolate, oranges and a bit piney with some coffee too. All over the place but in a good way. Tastes of roasted malt, orange peel and some herbal liquorice. Bitter with a nice rounded mouthfeel. A bit warming but tart and dry. Pretty dang good.

Poured from a bottle and shared in Avon.NC; it is a dark brown color with the aroma of coffee and licorice. It had a strong coffee taste that lingers bitter on the palate
