Deep black in with light tan head... Aroma of citrus, light roasted malts... Flavor is initially roasted malts, but not overly intense, allowing citrus and light tartness to come through... Notes of coffee bitterness and licorice on finish, amazingly complex ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

341ml bottle, pours back with a small tan head, very chocolate malty flavour which is great, but not really sure it goes with the saison yeast to make a great great beer, starts malty, finishes malty with some floral herbiness. Good, but not as great as some of the others.

Bottle shared by someone at Sante Adairius. Thanks, whoever! Citru-scented Windex jumps out of the glass, solventy and sharp. Flavor has that too but blends it out a little better with the malt profile, which is a little arid and bland after getting zapped by the saison yeast.

Deep dark brown with a tan head and lace. Malt, brown sugar aroma. Lovely roasted malt flavour. Chocolate with an astrigent alcoholic finish. Warming, nutty roasted coffee bean notes towards the end. Tasty beer.

Mostly smells of yeast funk with light roasted undertones. Dark black big frothy tan head. A roasted coffee taste than melds in to the funk of a saison and then comes out the end with a charcoal dry . Left with nice coal coat on the tongue.

A gloopy, pure black viscous body with a thick, bubbly, tan head forms in the glass. The head settles slowly with larger bubbles and small, dense bubbles forming well. The nose has a general rich malt aroma with a moderately heavy roasted note, hits of coffee and chocolate and a beautiful mild saison style yeast scent. Soft esters complement the light saison yeast well with light barnyard dust notes and mild citrus zest. The aroma is rather elogent and the heaviness is a refreshing change for the saison style. My first sip has a thoroughly roasted, heavy malt flavour with a note of espresso and vanilla. More subtle flavours of smoke, wood, bourbon, lemon zest and barnyard dust work their way through. The finish is heavy with a mild saison yeast and a roasted malt bitterness that lingers for a while.

Very nice, probably my favorite Dieu de Ciel. Lots of saison yeastiness, good amount of coffee and roasted malts, chocolate and a wide range of fruits. The best black saison I’ve had too.

341ml bottle pours black in color with a finger of light brown head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark fruits and roasted grains with hints of chocolate and yeast. Taste is a dark fruit and chocolate malty sweetness with a light roasted grain and spicy hop bitterness. Nicely done and highly recommended.

Black pour with a tight bubbled mocha head that lasts. There’s a lot going on in the nose. Big saison yeast notes up front. Spice all over the place with an espresso note underneath. Some light fruit notes sit on top as well. Really interesting nose. Much more fruit on the palate with good amounts of spice and chocolate. Finishes bittersweet with a little warmth. Fantastic.
