COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This "Imperial Dark Saison" is a collaboration between DDC and Shiga Kogen. It has the grain bill of an Imperial Stout, hops grown at Shiga Kogen and is fermented with Saison yeast.

12 ounce tulip sampled at the brewpub. The aroma on this is rather faint...what I do detect has light coffee and a light choco sweetness. Not bad, just faint. Virtually opaque black body with a frothy tan head and good lacing. Nice looking brew. Very roasted, burnt, ashy, chocolatey beer. Very slight belgian yeastiness is also present with some slight esters. The chalkboard said this was a "Strong Dark Saison", but this is basically an Imperial Stout brewed with Belgian Yeast. Tasty, just not what I was expecting. A bit disappointing because I wasn’t in the mood for an Imperial Stout.
