Very good looking beer, dark of dark. Strong alcohol taste, with coffee, chocolate, hoppy! Since I’m not a fan of carbonation, that is where this beer lost most of it’s points... In all, if it can be called that, a great, saison with a black North American touch! Well done.

Bottle. Deep brown liquid with medium tan head. Aroma of dill, licorice, coffee, red berries, citrus and white pepper. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter with notes of citrus, dill and licorice. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Trainwreck , if a rather tasty one.

Poured black with chestnut highlights and a huge mocha colored fluffy head that retained very well and left nice thick lacing. Has an aroma of charred malt, chocolate and dark berries that have just been picked and have some dusty dirt on them. Blueberries come through in the taste with that same earthiness and perceived sweetness, along with a prominent charred/burnt malt flavor that is almost acrid until your palate adjusts to it. Also get some orange rind, anise, chocolate and some mild peppery spiciness. A moderate level of bitterness from the dark malt. Finishes with lingering charred malt flavor and bitterness. Mouthfeel is semi creamy with a medium/full body and high carbonation. Very interesting and unique beer. The charred malt flavors were a bit off putting but became acceptable, although still my least favorite part of the taste. Not one I’d probably buy again but was glad I got to try it.

UPDATED: MAR 22, 2015 Kávészínű főzetünk nem kevés dilemmát tartogat az egyszerű sörfogyasztó számára, amennyiben a tipologizálásának kemény fájába vágja a fejszéjét. Az egyik legnagyobb sörértékelő oldal iránymutatása alapján érdemes a főzetet a belgian strong ale kategóriába sorolni, ugyanakkor maga az ital címkéje büszkén hirdeti az "imperial dark saison" jelleget. Mindemellett a felszínesebb szemlélődők hajlamosak lehetnek black IPA-ként tekinteni a sörre. Szó, mi szó, szegfűs, vadvirágos aromáitól csak úgy szikrázik a levegő, friss, parfümös illatai kávé, pörkölt magvak jegyeivel vegyülve teszik egyedivé a fekete hangulatú komlószerkezet kompozícióját. Csípőskés, vibráló kortyai ostorcsapásként hatnak, vérbeli, sötét tónusú IPA vonalai keverednek egy fajsúlyos, hirtelen haragú főzet jellemvonásaival. Vérmes, frissítő jellegű, ropogósan száraz benyomásai olvasztott étcsokoládé, karamell és kávé hangulatát hordozzák,végül virágos köntösbe bújtatott, hosszan elnyúló kesernyével dolgozó malátafolyam intenzív csobogása győzedelmeskedik a belga stílusú ale mondanivalójának befogadására felkészült ízlelőbimbók fölött. Nem mindennapi főzet, speciális igények kielégítésére messzemenőkig alkalmas ital.

2015 bottle. Pours black with a big khaki head. Aroma is sweet dark fruits, roasted malt and soy with a touch of sour. Taste is complex. Roasted, almost charred, malt with some anise, soy sauce, a hint of bubble gum and some orange and lemon at the end. The combination of favors is different with each drink. Leaves a sort of chalky bitterness in the tongue. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The beer pours a very dark brown with a large tan head. The aroma blends bright Belgian yeast with roasted and chocolate malts. The taste is slightly sweet, slightly sour, and mildly umami with an aftertaste that is mostly Belgian yeast. The palate fuses a lively carbonation, medium-light body, and a slick texture.

Great BSA that has an interesting taste because of the grain bill and the use of the saison yeast. Nice and estery but big and bold. Interessant.

Bottle. A dark tan head that is big and cool looking. The beer is very dark with only a little amber. A roasty aroma. The flavor is roasty, chocolatey, and fruity. Sharp bitterness. Some vinous notes, too. A little burnt brown sugar
