Very innovative hybrid and a success. Definitely more saison characteristics than imp stout. Medium body and very complex.

Tap into a snifter showing pitch black with sparse latte foam The nose shows roasted malts and ground coffee. The palate shows moderate carbonation, a full body and smooth but only light coffee and roasted malts with a faint anko sweetness on the finish.

Bottle (date stamp says 9/10/15). Stouty brownish-black pour, massive, rocky, beige head with wicked retention and lace. Nose is full of roast, minerals, prunes, candy, soy sauce, some faint funk from the yeast (although is mostly overcome by the mash bill). Mouth is medium-full, sharp carbonation, but still slick on the palate, dry but overly so, roast and hoppy bitterness dominating, some cocoa, strong black coffee, more soy sauce, hint of smoke, some phenolic notes near the finish. Not sure this is anything more than a slightly unusual stout... I would have liked to get some more of the character from the yeast. Still, Dieu du Ciel proves to be, as usual, a quality pour.

Bottle shared. Thanks Davido! Lots of dark fruit, some saison yeast character. Raisin, dark plums and some fig. Cacao and berry notes as well. Finish was slightly thin. I was lit by this point.

Imperial diferente de outras do estilo. É menos encorpada e mais cítrica. Álcool aparece um pouco, mas não encomoda. Na minha opnião, não está dentre as melhores da Dieu.

Heavy weight stout with usual deep roasted flavor, but with a slightly sour hop bill. $4.99/11.5 ounces is expensive in MI.

Pours mahogany tinged black into an English pint. Mocha head with excellent retention craters and recedes leaving sheet lacing. Chocolate and espresso aromas. Medium to thin with dark chocolate covered pit fruit upfront turning to roasted nuts and expresso in the lasting finish.

Bottle from Steve. Reddish black pour with huge tan rocky head. Tart yeast, dark roast and hints of chocolate aroma. Medium body roasted grain, Belgian yeast notes, chocolate in the taste. Unique brew, very tasty.

Black with a thick tan head and some lacing. Nose of dark chocolate, caramel, whiskey, coffee, and dark fruit. Malty intro with generous carbonation and a medium mouthfeel, then finishing with dark chocolate, alcohol warming, dark fruit, and coffee and chicory.
