In short: An intense and aggressive Abbey Triple that tastes more like an uber-hoppy Citra IIPA (with unfortunate cat piss side-effect)
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Almost clear dark blonde body topped by a long-lasting small white head leaving lots of lacings
In long: Strong nose of citra hops. When used more moderately citra hops has a nice floral and tropical fruits signature. But here it is overwhelming and to me smells like condensed tulips juice, freshly cut apricots and cat piss. Too much Citra does that to me, cat piss sensation. Taste is intense. Lots of apricots, pineapples, flowers, grass and passion fruits with an abrasive flowery bitterness that also has a light cat piss flavor. Bitterness is very sharp and aggressive. The Belgian nature of the beer is buried under a mountain of citra hops. Tastes more like an uber-hoppy citra American IPA than an Abbey Triple. It seems that I like this beer less than most people. Something about me noticing a light cat piss aroma & flavor that nobody else seems to get. And I’m not sure what disturbs me the most here. Finding a cat piss flavor in a beer or thinking I know what cat piss tastes like?

Brumeux, robe jaune orange, mousse parfaitement crémeuse. Forte odeur d’agrume. Goût riche, amertume tranchante qui domine, sucre en arrière plan, un peu terreux. Chaud et rond en bouche. Très bone bière, seul critique; l’arrière goût est pas très bon.

Hazy dark orange colour with a lively carbonation. Great aroma, has all those belgian yeast fruity esters but is also has a tropical citrus note amplified by the hops. The palate is rich and warming like a tripel should be but the hops adds a certain depth of character and a leafy/bitter & juicy goodness to the brew. delicious!!

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2012 341ml bottle. Amber/organge pour with almost white head that leaves a little lace. Smells like a spruce farm with underlying hints of fruit and Belgian yeast. Lots more fruit on the palate with some spruce and yeast. Finishes with a good long bitterness that has a lot of fruit and a little heat.

2012-05-19. Dark orange amber body with a small beige head. 3+ interesting aroma, leafy herbaceous hops, light malt, muted sweet citrus. 7+ Flavour is quite nice, leafy citrusy, mild alcohol, mild sweetish malt core. 7++ Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate. 3+ Dangerously drinkable, pleasantly hoppy. Quite nice. More please. Bottle shared by DuctTape 16

Single bottle purchased from Zyn Liqour in Calgary, AB on 05/11/2012. Colour: Light orange/dark yellow combo, with medium-high soft white foam. Nose: Herbal introduction which graduates to sweet fruit of berries and melon. Traces of flowers dance in the background. The malt plays sweet here. Medium-high sweet, medium bitter. medium-light sour. Plenty of sweetness to go around, which I presume is present to dull down the 10.2 abv a bit, no? The hops are grapefruit-esqu and mid to late palate displays a basket of herbs and spices. They linger long into the finish. Decent.

341ml bottle pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger white head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aromas are dominated by citrus with some faint yeast notes and light fruits. Taste is malty sweet with some light citrus and fruits and hints of yeast. Has a dry finish. Medium bodies with modest carbonation leaving a nice mouthfeel. A nice representation of a Belgian style tripel and highly recommended.

Bottle - 341ml. Beautiful hazy amber body with an average, lasting white foamy/creamy head. Its fresh hoppy aroma carries strong melon hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Sharp, well balanced hoppy taste with malty, melon, and some piney notes. Ends with a long, robust, moderately warming bitter finish. Very nice!

Beautiful finger of yellowish off whtie head and big lacing rings. Clear body with a colour of pale golden with bright orange hints in the body. Medium carbonation in the body. Looks like an IPA. Big hop aroma with huge resin and citrus fruit notes. Massively resinous and zesty citrus hops. Nose has some mild esters and a sweet yeast aroma. The taste has grapefruit, lemon, potent hop with a lingering bitterness and dryness on the finish. Dont notice the alcohol at all, but light Belgian yeast flavor and fruity apple and pears. Light spice and no malts at all. This drinks like an Imperial IPA, not a tripel.
