3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jercraigs (6603) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 4, 2008
2008-05-30. Orange-amber body with a nice creamy beige head. (4+) Mild hops in the aroma, light grassy notes and leafy citrus. Pleasant hoppy flavour, pleasant bitterness, light resin grows towards the finish and lingers. Smooth average plus palate (3+) Shows promise but ends up being just okay. Draft, Dieu Du Ciel, Montreal

good hoppy aroma, lots of citrus, and piney resin. The nitro really does make it quite creamy. good mouthfeel, the bitterness is right on.

on tap at Dieu du Ciel. Pours a nice ceamy amber with nice West coast hop aroma. Found the hop presence here much better than the Vaisseau des songes. Nice creamy mouth feel with one of the nicer hop presence that I ve had in a Canadian beer.malts & hops balance out well. a nice creamy hoppy boddingtons. great beer

Strong aroma of west coast hops, fine malt too, hazy amber, tight, long lasting cream head, and plenty of lace. Flavour is an orangey/spicey start, followed by a decent malt backbone. Very well balanced, finely bitter, lovely smooth mouthfeel, entirely too quaffable. Great!

Pours a cloudy dark gold color with a medium, creamy, white head. Aroma of resinous hops and pine needles. Good flavor of resinous and piney hops with toasted malt and a bitter finish that lasts a while. The body is light with a creamy texture and soft carbonation.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ABUSEDGOAT (1938) - California, USA - JAN 1, 2008
Interesting in that the last nitro IPA I had was a total mess. Very solid offering here though. Citrusy aroma with an amber body. Medium bodied, moderate bitterness, fairly well executed.

Draught.
Amber-orange body with a creamy white head. Soothing orange candy in the aroma along with some rye.
Quite bitter and very creamy which makes this stuff really enjoyable. Some bread flavour noted as well but this stuff is typically hop-forward, particularly in the long and bitter finish.

My Bottom Line:
Spicy, herbal hops proliferate throughout the mild caramel maltiness, ending up in a resinous, spicy leaf bitterness which is cushioned by the nitrogen carbonation. Drinkable, different, yet predictable, this is a pleasurable twist on the American IPA style.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-The perfect nitro head protects the hazy orange.
-The nitro helps to reach balance, but this one leans towards hop bitterness nonetheless.
-Some citrusy fruitiness emanates from the intense hoppiness, adding complexity to this alpha angle.
-Maltiness could be more expressive or complex.
On tap at the brewpub.
