UPDATED: SEP 12, 2004 Loads of noble green hop resin cones pricking ripe caramel spiciness...Apples and berries out of a lawnmower and the sweat from an orange...The dry and bitter aftertaste is much less complex than it could be...A bit frail to my tastes at first, a 1.5-year old version later revealed a much better integration of flavors, served by a well-fed body...

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2003 Amber and hazy robe. Caramel and orange nose. Sweet taste: mango, orange lemon, caramel. It doesnt really make its 8% ABV. Good beer, but this style holds many superior contenders.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2004 (Draught) Cloudy, deep orange yeast. Highly carbonated. Almond head. Yeasty, spiced orange peel nose. Nice bitterness. Mild orange flavour with a lasting bitter, spice stuck to the roof of my mouth.

Original: Assertive citrus (orange) hop nose. Opaque orange-amber with decent off-white head. Fruity and sweet with a strong hoppiness. Alcohol noted in the finish. On tap at the brewpub and at Mondiale de la Biere 2003. (7-3-7-3-14=3.4)

Re-rated at 6th anniversary party. Aged 18 months - what a difference (7-4-8-5-16=4.0) Mild floral hops, caramel, dark fruit all meld wonderfully in this complex, spicy aroma. Opaque burnished copper with strong, dense off-white head that recedes slowly with some lacing. Very assertive and clean bitterness with huge chewey malty caramel flavours. Light floral hop notes. Syrup-like thick mouthfeel. On tap at the brewpub.

18 months old version - tasted on DDC 6th anniversary. Splendid lightly cloudy amber body topped with a large and lasting off-white head. Its definitely hoppy aroma is accompanied by a complex and quite pleasant mix of caramel, toffee and sweet hints. Taste generates a hoppy party in your mouth. There’s also some vineous, smokey and brown sugar notes. It ends with a gorgeous bitter final. I may seem to be generous in my rating, but that version is undoubtedly outstanding!

On tap aged 18 months at the brewpub. Golden orange in colour. The aroma was of floral hops with some caramel and oranges. Flavour was of hops, mild malt, oranges and caramel. Medium body. Alcohol is very well hidden. Finishes long and slightly dry and bitter. Very well done.

18 month aged draught. Dark copper with minimal head.Site lists it as an American Strong Ale but at the brewpub they were calling it an Imperial IPA. It was obviously hoppy and floral and orangey-citric but it didn’t have the big kick I think of for an Imp. IPA. Smooth, slightly bitter medium body with flavours of orange and caramel sweetness with a fairly dry but nice long finish. Very drinkable.

(Cask) Orange color, very fruity aroma(mostly orange with a bit of grapefruit) with a handfull of hops. Big hop bite but balanced by a caramel like sweetness.
