On tap at Dieu du Ciel. Pours a somewhat murky brown with a thin beige head. Big on the nose, full of sesame oil, roast, and chocolate. My wife gets notes of barley tea and grains. Medium bodied, lots of roast and sesame and toasted grain. This is gorgeous. Super flavorful, tons of body, great mouthfeel, and a fairly low ABV. Easy drinking and something you could drink all night. Long roast and more of that sesame and toasted barley note into the finish.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2013 On tap at Dieu du Ciel Montreal. Dark brown body, moderate egg-shell head, soapy lacing. Nose is roasty with baker’s chocolate, grain, and a bit of charred coffee. Flavor is similar, with a nice grainy base providing a backdrop for the chocolate and roasted malts to shine. Medium bodied, appropriate carbonation, lingering, but gentle finish.

A dark hazed brown weizen with a thick receeding lacing brown head. In aroma, a nice musty chocolate malt with peated character, herbal, complex and pleasant. In mouth, a nice smooth chocolate with roasted, with grassy herbal qualities, very nice and quaffable. On tap at brewpub,Nov. 23 2012.

On tap at DDC.
Appearance : Dark amber with small head.
Aroma : Dry roasted malt with some coffee. Light yeast and lingering wheat notes.
Taste : Nice coffee with roasted malt. Slightly burnt. Very light wheat and some vague yeast on the finish.
Overall : Nice take on the style. It’s not that often that I get to try this style. I think I appreciate the mix between weizen yeast and roasted malt. This was very well made and very interesting. Nothing ground breaking but pretty good.

Sampled at the brewpub from my brother’s order. Roasty chocolate notes are present in the nose, with some wheat and clove character, too. Pretty nice. Mildly transparent dark mahogany body with a creamy light tan head present. Good lacing. Starts with some chocolate sweetness and light roastiness as well. The middle has some wheat and banana esters present. Full-bodied. Finishes smooth, with a lingering sweet chocolate flavor. Not a huge fan of the yeasty esters. They seem a little overpowering.

On tap at DDC. Pours dark brown with beige head. Good lacing. Aroma and taste are of roasted malt and fruits (bananas). Palate: Medium body. Overall: Not bad, but the roastiness takes alot of place.
