Commercial Description:
If you love really good coffee and really good beer equally, you will be thrilled with Péché Mortel. If coffee isn’t your cup of tea, and caffeine makes you bounce off the ceiling, then just put the bottle down and find something else to drink. This beer is all about coffee. Indeed, you may have seen ‘coffee stouts’ before, but no brewer has ever married coffee and beer so naturally and seamlessly.
And this isn’t just any stout, but an imperial stout, which means that it is modeled on the strong, rich, and very complex stouts that were made in England in the 19th and early 20th centuries exclusively for shipment to Russia, where they were a special favorite at the court of the Czars.

Black pour, small brown head. Aroma is well coffee. Flavor is the same this is a straight coffee bean as if you were chewing it, it’s semi sweet and espresso like but it just comes down to it tasting like the coffee beans were boiled right in and then aged on them to top it off. Full bodied, good carbonation and a slick mouthfeel but with intense coffee bitterness. Really a nice coffee beer if you love a big brutal coffee but it does get to be a bit too much, overall it’s still a nice beer once in a while.

A beautiful pour, it is black, thick, and substantial with a two toned head of tan and brown. Two fingers in size. Aroma is iced coffee with roasted notes, whiskey, and dark fruit. Flavor is delicious and complex. Strong coffee, dark chocolate, alcohol, raisins. Feel is smooth and powdery. Flavors welded together beautifully as temp rose. This beer is incredibly well crafted and is absolutely delicious. A world class effort.

Bottle. Black color with a lasting brown head. Aroma: Roastiness, espresso, a bit of sweetness and caramel. Flavor: Roastiness/bitterness, lots of coffee/espresso, some chocolate as well. The alcohol is mostly hidden. Creamy and dry mouthfeel. Very nice if you are a stout and coffee fan, but maybe a bit one-dimensional

Bottle,( one of two) thanks very much pyrozoid! Pours jet black, blacker than the coffee I brew at home (in Seattle). Outstanding lush and thick brown head which also reminds me of coffee. Nose is all toasted beans with some sweet malt. Mouthfeel is luscious but not too rich. deep coffee notes in the taste balanced by roasted malt and a touch of sweet mocha. Sprite carbonation is lively on the tongue. Wish I could have a cup of this in the morning! Utterly terrific

Oh yeah! Shit yeah! Thanks, WeeHeavySD, again! I wish I could get coffee this delicious at the hundred coffee shops in my neighborhood. But I can’t. Then combine that delicious coffee over a super tasty stout? Hell yeah. That’s what I’m talking about right there. This was very good, nay, great. Need more. Just ordered a new liver on ebay that should be here any day now. Game on.

Bottle, bought in Copenhagen. Almost black and opague. Roast, cream and coffee in the aroma. Malty sweet, creamy flavor with coffee. Roastbitter aftertaste with mocha. Alcohol is well hidden. Delicious beer.
