Commercial Description:
If you love really good coffee and really good beer equally, you will be thrilled with Péché Mortel. If coffee isn’t your cup of tea, and caffeine makes you bounce off the ceiling, then just put the bottle down and find something else to drink. This beer is all about coffee. Indeed, you may have seen ‘coffee stouts’ before, but no brewer has ever married coffee and beer so naturally and seamlessly.
And this isn’t just any stout, but an imperial stout, which means that it is modeled on the strong, rich, and very complex stouts that were made in England in the 19th and early 20th centuries exclusively for shipment to Russia, where they were a special favorite at the court of the Czars.

Thanks to whoever brought this to us on DLD 08! Pours near black, a little bit oily, with an unexpected larger beige frothy head. Incredible cinnamon coffee ground aroma with notes of chocolate, raisins and licorice as well. Great coffee flavor that is just sweet enough. Low dry bitterness. I like this better than Bourbon Kentucky Breakfast. Slightly creamy, but somewhat thin, body with low carbonation. This is a very very drinkable IRS.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a big, beautiful brown head. Aroma is a phenominal gourmet cofee and a touch of chocolate. Flavor is again, gourmet coffee, a little creamy and bitter chocolate in the background. I was so glad to finally try this beer, it certainly lived up to the hype. Good thing I have 5 more to get my fix again in the future.

Bottle from the depaneur near the brewbub. BIG foamy dark beige head that leaves big lacing. Aroma is all coffee and some chocolate. The flavor is all coffee...really good coffee. Bitter, salty mouthfeel. Coffee and beer. God loves me.

Pours a beautiful dark brown color with a hint of red - thick foamy 1 inch caramel head. Smells of rich roasted coffee dominates. Heavy lacing clings lovingly to the glass. First sip is all coffee, not just coffee but really good coffee. I love coffee (not as much as beer). This brew is brewed with really good java! Mouthfeel is creamy, bordering on milkshake like. There is some chocolate coming through but make no question, coffee is the star. Very good…close to World Class!

Pours black with a brown head (not too dark brown though). Aroma is definitely strong with coffee beans, plant, dark chocolate, and licorice. Tastes of bitter coffee, espresso, some dark chocolate, maybe dark fruit, but really this is all about coffee. And strong coffee flavors at that! This tastes like it was brewed with some really strong stuff. Full bodied and creamy, but not too heavy, and well hidden alcohol. Flavor seems a bit simple because of the coffee bias, but it’s still pretty good.
