wunderbier (1261), Finland Sep 23, 2005 Bottle, first run. Near opaque black hue with dark brown edges. Thick, creamy/frothy, brown head with some large bubbles. Roast espresso, dark unsweet chocolate, caramel. Even as this warms I could entice few more aromas to appear. Heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter flavor. Moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter finish. There’s a heavy grape flavor that I’m not too fond of. Medium-full bodied, oily texture, lively carbonation. Nice, dry chocolate aftertaste is really the best thing going on here.
TikiE (353), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Oct 14, 2008 Bottled: a simply delicious imperial stout! Pours a dark color with a big tan head. Smells of roasted coffee beans and tastes of sweetly roasted malts and coffee, that lasts on the palate. A great beer! Collint (349), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Oct 14, 2008 Bottle, pours a black beer with a huge tan creamy head. Aroma is pure coffee, roast and chocolate. Flavor is a clean taste of coffee and sweet malt with complex notes of roast and a great smoothness. This is a very nice suprise from TikiE. Very simalar to the Wake & Bake, maybe better AmicusBeer (7), Toronto, Ontario, Canada does not count Oct 13, 2008 Think stong chocolate coffee aroma. Pours think with a nice head. Very stong coffee nose. Not a session beer. Great desert beer. Great match with chocolate. Strykzone (1021), Wood River, Illinois, USA Oct 12, 2008 A beautiful pour, it is black, thick, and substantial with a two toned head of tan and brown. Two fingers in size. Aroma is iced coffee with roasted notes, whiskey, and dark fruit. Flavor is delicious and complex. Strong coffee, dark chocolate, alcohol, raisins. Feel is smooth and powdery. Flavors welded together beautifully as temp rose. This beer is incredibly well crafted and is absolutely delicious. A world class effort. Jonte (403), Gothenburg, Sweden Oct 12, 2008 Bottle. Black color with a lasting brown head. Aroma: Roastiness, espresso, a bit of sweetness and caramel. Flavor: Roastiness/bitterness, lots of coffee/espresso, some chocolate as well. The alcohol is mostly hidden. Creamy and dry mouthfeel. Very nice if you are a stout and coffee fan, but maybe a bit one-dimensional
