Paienne is a top-fermenting June straw blond coloured beer. It presents aromas of malt, fruits and hops. Its well-balanced flavours are dominated by malty and fresh cereals tastes, completed by a delicate bitterness. All of this makes the Paienne an inviting and thirst-quenching beer offering at the same time satisfying tastes and a generous body.

Courtesy of the Tommy on this one. Pours like a blonde. Taste and aroma are what you would expect from a standard blonde ale. Nothing wrong with it but unremarkable.

On tap at Dieu du Ciel Montreal. Lightly hazy golden-yellow body, moderate white head, lingering finish, dense lacing. Nose is lemon-grainy focused with some sweetness from a lightly bready malt profile. Flavor is complemented by a light citric-grassy bitterness. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, clean finish, fairly refreshing.

Pours blond with a decent head lacing and a little head. Taste has some bitterness and a little bit of spice but not huge on character. Very crisp. Alright for style. On tap.

Pale blond body with a limited cap that reduced to a sad film that sadly spins around the top of the beer. Grass clippings with hints of orange possible lemon in the aroma with big bready notes on deep inhales. Taste is crisp and clean, just a slight lemon hop lingers in the after taste. Grassy malts with orangy to a lemon citrus hop. I taste flavours..... I mean flowers. Goes down fast and forgettable.

Aroma is very average with cereal notes; oatmeal and barley. There is also this annoying meat smell that I have a hard time with. Half creamy and half rocky head that disappears kind of fast with no lacing. Color is blond (straw) and a bit hazy. Taste is definitely grassy and cereals are sticking out. Finish is with a slight bitterness and we can feel notes of hazelnut that saves the day. Very surprisingly tasty hazelnut notes.

On tap at DDC. Pours a pale amber yellow with a small white head. Aroma of bread malts, cereal, grass, hay, and light citrus lemon. Flavour of the same. Very subtle. Loses flavour quickly. Not very interesting. Good if you’re looking for a very light beer.

341mL thanks to JulienHuxley. Pours a low haze, bright yellow. Medium white head. Excellent sheety lace. Nose is candy corn, sharp lemon dish soap. Fresher dough as it warms. Taste is hoppy, citrusy, grassy, a bit metallic. Reminds me a bit of decent quality Czech pilsners- a bit soapy, metallic, candy corn. As it warms, thicker grassy/dense hops come through. Sharp white alcohol in finish.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with a nice looking bone white head that shows great retention and lace. The aroma off of this is kind of funky, like play doh or something like that. Sweet honey and bread mixed with a a hop cone or two. The flavor is light sweet and refreshing. Light sweet malts with a hint of honey and light sugar as well as some hops if I squint a bit. Medium to light body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. Nice approachable blond ale that’s easy to drink. Luckily the offensive odor seemed to go away the longer the glass was sitting.

On draft at the brew pub. Nice golden color with a medium head. Great smooth finish. Light complexity.
