OK, now this is awesome. I never liked the regular Pêché Mortel to the cult level some people seemed to have vowed for it. But now the BA version, oh god! I believe I can say without a doubt that this is the best aroma I have ever encountered in a beer: coffee, booze, sweetener... just like that special coffee you drink on Christmas morning with grandma (coffee-brandy). There is even a caramel-like quality to it. The beverage itself is pitch black with a small moka head that leaves some nice lacing on the oversized snifter it came with. Taste is coffee, intense coffee (a good one too) and bourbon. Alcohol is well hidden, but it does relax your joints and muscle good like a fine spirit after a hard day at work. It is so creamy it is almost surreal... I never thought it would be this good and now it just slipped into my top 10, good job DDC! (P.S. You should note that I don’t like stouts that much usually)

Bottle about 1 and a half years old from the November 2013. The smell is great, lots of bourbon, oak, coffee and chocolate. This beer is soo smooth, the texture is just perfect, full body, light carbonation, it just flows on your tongue. I love the original Péché Mortel, but the bourbon barrel gives it an additional complexity which is, in my opinion, very beneficial. Bourbon and oak flavours blend gracefully with the coffee. Along with those dominating flavours, I taste some slight chocolate notes, toastiness, sweet but not as much as other big bba imperial stouts that I’ve had. The finaly is light warming alcohol with a mild coffee bitterness, and again, not too swee. The finish is dryer than one might expect. This is one of, if not, my favourite beer from any Quebec brewery. This beer is not too big, but just perfectly balanced and smooth. It gets to me every time, love it!

Paradisiaque!

Bottle from IGA. Thanks Jo. Aroma: great balance between bourbon, coffee and chocolate. App: pitch black with small brown head and some lacing. Taste and palate: full creamy body, medium sweetness, light bitter, roasted and alcohol finish. Overall: as expected that beer is just awesome. The bourbon really ads some new flavors to this beer. Even though I preferred the non bourbon barrel version, this is still pretty good. Wish I had another one

Tap. tried during a comparative tasting of the 2007, 2011 and 2013 versions. 2011 version: Amazing aroma right off the bat. Coffe, vanilla, caramel, tofee, black cherries. Taste is similar and extremely smooth bodied.

2013 341ml bottle. Pours black with a ring of tan bubbles for a head. Aroma is strong with dark chocolate, bourbon barrel, coffee, and that nuttiness. Taste is bitter. Smooth bourbon and oak, dark chocolate, roasted malts, caramel, dark fruits, and a touch of espresso at the end. Full body with a low-medium carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a big body and dry finish. Overall very nice. I’m sure the age has smoothed out the rough edges but this could probably age further.

Wow. Pours black with some brown on edges when help up to light. Limited initial tan head and minimal lacing. Nose is leather, bourbon, espresso. Flavours are dark fruit, bitter chocolate, espresso, bourbon. Taste is med/heavy sweet med bitter. Full oily body smooth with med carbonation and a lasting bitterness. Incredible.

Thanks Mikey! Holy schnikeies batman! this is one crazy fabulous beer. The only thing I would add to other glorious reviews is the pungent woody earthy cork overtones.
