Draught. A beer does not, could possibly not be more beautiful than this! Best lacing EVER. Black body with a mocha head and black roasted coffee bean aroma. Pure, unadulterated coffee blended with dense mocha delight and a hint of cherry. An absolutely splendid drink worthy of the gods.

***On tap at Dieu Du Ciel!*** Tulip. Pours jet black with one finger of thick foam. Aroma is dominated by coffee, bitter chocolate, with mountains of roasty malt. Flavor is an incredible blend of bitterness from the coffee and hop character with sweeter notes of chocolate and vanilla. Mouthfeel is thick, viscous and creamy. Every aspect of this brew blew me away. ***Bottle Conditioned*** Pours jet black with one finger tan head that dissipates slowly. Aroma is powerful and evident: tons of espresso, bitter chocolate, vanilla, and massive amounts of roast. Hard hitting and unyielding- not quick at all to saturate. Flavor is loaded with espresso and a bitter backbone of chocolate and roast. Robust, and not sweet by any means. Perhaps coffee is an acquired taste, but whether or not you have it, this beer is incredible. Flavors are all complex and wholly evident- each and every flavor can stand alone in its own right, but when married together they form a balance and complexity rivaled by few. Palate is thick and rich... creamy and smooth. Leaves a dry, slightly bitter but completely welcome finish. Aftertaste simply does not go away- tons of coffee and bitter roast. Ties on a nice little caffeine buzz as well as a bit of a normal buzz, though alcohol is unnoticeable. If your looking for a powder coated easy to drink stout, you probably wont find it here. this bold charactered brew is surprisingly quaffable, while retaining its robust and powerful qualities. This one is a sipper for the ages.

had on tap at Dieu du Ciel brewpub. Motor oil pour with a head that is as thicky as heavy cream, but more tan. Aroma is heavy on coffee, along with chocolate, roasted malts, and cream. Flavor is coffee expounded, thick, creamy, perfect subtle bitterness. Ever aspect of this beer is incredible, one of my top 5 all time.

From Skjold Burne, Aarhus, DK. Bottled, 010808. Black with a brownish head. Aroma of choclate and coffee. Flavor is complex of roastes and malt sweetness with notes of smoke, liqourice, coco and red fruits.

12 oz into sniffer. Black oil pour with a huge frothy dark mocha-colored head (fitting) that holds well and leaves thick lace as it slowly recedes. This is definitely all about the coffee. Rich bitter roasted coffee on the nose with some vanilla, molasses, and bitter chocolate in the background. The flavor is just like the aroma, but with a subtle hint of hop bitterness, which, when combined with the coffee bitterness, almost forces you to pucker. This brew would be great early in the morning. Full bodied and coating on the palate. Soft carbonation, a bitter drag, and a warming finish on the stomach. Overall: this is a great and unique imperial stout. However, if you don’t like dark black coffee, be sure to steer clear of this. ... And whats up with the twist off?

11.5 oz bottle. Ok, this is one crazy ass beer. Seriously, it is like taking a trip to Starbucks. I am not sure I have ever tried a stout that had such a pronounced aroma and flavor of coffee. There is also a subtle smoky profile that blends nicely with the coffee flavor. Poured a thick black with a creamy brown head. A creamy mouthfeel and alcohol is well hidden. Props to the Canadians.

Bottle. Black with a nice thick brown head. Lots of coffee as well as sweet roasted malt, mild hops, chocolate and a hint of alchohol on the finish. If you love coffee, you’ll love this!

12oz bottle, poured aggressively to rouse a 2.5 finger head that is medium-fine bubbled, as it recedes it leaves a sticky coating on the glass. The coffee is obvious in the aroma, smells of the acrid grounds as well. A bit of sweetness poking through, some roasty grain and bittersweet chocolate. First sip is dominantly rich, dark roasted coffee bean, some malt body and sweetness mid tongue that quickly recede leaving a combination of hop bitterness, astringent burnt grain and mild alcohol vapors sailing through the nose. You will have to love coffee to enjoy this one, and if so, it will be a real treat. Bravo.
