Commercial Description:
Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

Bottle. Rich, roasted coffee bean aroma carries through the aroma to the flavor. Black body with ruby highlights in the body. Thick, fizzy head that lasts and lacing that coats the side of the glass. The aroma is dominated by the coffee and chocolate with notes of roasted and burnt malts and vanilla. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately bitter and mildly acidic. Dry, coffee bitterness in the finish. Tastes of unsweetened dark chocolate linger along with the alcohol. Medium body with a velvety texture and lively carbonation. You could say this is a one-trick pony kind of beer — all coffee all the time — but that one trick is pretty good.

11.5oz beer: Viscous black pour with a thick, mocha colored head. The aroma offers a beautiful balance of sweet chocolate and roasted coffee - working together well. The coffee is slightly more bitter in the body, working with the lightly bitter hops. Lots of fudge, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla beans follow. Finishes with a scorched java note. Very good.

Thanks to bitbucket!!! Pours a nice black color with a small brown head that sticks to the glass with each sip. Aroma is purely coffee and bitter chocolate. Flavor is coffee, burnt malts, bitter dark chocolate and some hops. It is smooth and full bodied. I do taste some of the alcohol, but not too much of a burn. Very nice brew indeed. Glad I finally got to try it!!

The aroma is strong of coffee, smoke, and chocolate. Very dark brown to black with a coffee colored head. The flavor is of coffee, chocolate, burnt malt, and some hops. Very thick on the palate and a coffee aftertaste. Surprise... it’s made with coffee. It’s ok..

The aroma had chocolate, coffee, smoke, and burnt malt. The appearance is black with a tan head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thick. Overall it’s over rated!
