skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA May 21, 2008 Yep...this is one of those beers that makes me glad to be alive. Thank whatever god exists in the Universe that this beer has finally made it to Washington. ’Nuff said. Davinci (295), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 19, 2008 Deep black pour with large tan head. Aroma is a wonderful sweet almost milky coffee... reminds me of a coffee milk shake. Under the rich coffee aromas are hints of chocolate, wood, and a hint of cinnamon as it warms. The aroma is so rich I dont even want to start drinking right away. The flavor does not dissapoint at all. Starts off with a pleasantly bitter big coffee with some assertive hop bitterness, mildly piney. The flavors transition to a more milk chocolatey note toward the middle. The finish lingers quite a while developing into a pleasant mild roasty flavor. Truly an excellent beer. dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA May 19, 2008 Pours thick and black with a thick dark tan head. Big coffee aroma thats starts to give off roasted grains and chocolate as it warms. Big chocolate malt, roasted grain, coffee taste. A really nice creamy taste with a chocolate malt thickness. Finishes chocolaty and coffe bitter. Insanely awesome. ironchefscott (341), portland, Oregon, USA May 19, 2008 tastes like the best coffee ever mixed with an awesome imp stout....mixes really well into a cohesive whole...wow...wow....wish I could get this every day!
thanks kkearn grandet (477), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA May 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark black color with a nice light brown head that lasted. Aroma is of coffee and more coffee. Also some chocolate on the nose as well. Taste is of strong coffee and some caremel. Very well balanced and enjoyable. the abv is covered quite well. Very rich and smooth. Def on of my top 10. HopheadHans (753), Bay Area, California, USA May 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours with a black color and a small head. As others said before, the aroma is pure coffee but in a good way. Flavors continue the theme, as it warms it becomes a bit more complex, and there are some malts and caramel notes in there. Not the thickest brew, but very good. chicagodri (1021), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 17, 2008 Was really excited to try this beer and was very glad to find out I could pick some up in Chicago @ West Lakeview Liquors. Amazing coffee aroma, really overpowering. I could drink this in the morning :) Pours black with a thin tan head. Not as thick as some other stouts, but still very good. Nice mouthfeel, hides the 9.5% very well. Gets better as it warms...I might have to get some more. LinusStick (1830), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 17, 2008 An outstanding imperial stout. I’ve grown tired of these for the most part, but every once in a while one will slap me. This did that. Strong thick coffee aroma with dark chocolate in there as well. Pour was a perfect near black with a pillowy dense 4 finger tan head. Taste was more choclate than coffee in my opinion with a strong bitter roasted malt aftertaste. Very nice.
