| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 30, 2009 Black as pitch with a tight, crema colored foam. Roasted coffee, chocolate, alcohol and dried dark fruits make up the aroma while coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, and a slight taste of alcohol. The mouthfeel is full but not cloying and the finish is appetizingly dry. The saving grace of this beer is the coffee addition because otherwise, it would be a mediocre imperial stout. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 29, 2009 Subtle notes of licorice, coffee, and red fruits on the nose. The coffee is very evident , and delicious. This is one very good beer. The palate feels just like the way it looks, used motor oil, with just the right amount of carbonation. Not for the faint of heart,, but i’d recommend this to any stout lover. obguthr (999), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 27, 2009 Dirty cocoa and coffee aroma, medium strength. Black with a thin brown head, good lacing. The flavor is of mud, coffee, and chocolate. Very dirty, but good. Peat finish. ben4321 (984), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Aroma: Coffee, coffee, ummm...coffee? Seriously though, that is the dominant smell but there is some other stuff in there as well, like chocolate, burnt malts, vanilla
Appearance: Thick brownish-black color, minimal head
Flavor: Big coffee flavor, super malty, some earthy, grass hops too
Palate: This drinks pretty nicely, man, no burn at all here for a 9.5% beer, full body
Overall Impression:
Wow is there some coffee in this one, I guess I should have had it at 10 AM, not 10 PM. Anyway, this is quite a nice beer I must say. Canada, who knew? You keep surprising me with some really good beers. It’s almost like Montreal doesn’t know it is French Canadian (that was a cheap shot, I know). Great beer.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2009 Pours black with a little tan head to it. Has a heavy coffee smell with a chocolate in there. Very heavy coffee taste with a touch of caramel in there. If you ask me it would actually be cheaper to go to Starbucks and just buy a coffee humulushound (113), British Columbia, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 23, 2009 Brilliant black beast in snifter with billowing tan head. No light passes through this thing.
Aroma is soft wood, rich coffee with a hint of brazil and hazelnuts. Taste expresses calm power - expresso initially; burnt toffee, bitter chocolate, rye; molasses, hop bitterness and understated spice in the late finish. Finish is smooth and lasting. Body is full without excessive viscosity. Initially this exceptional stout is surprisingly subtle for the high alcohol content, but the booziness comes out later. Yes it could be more effervescent but this is quite the achievement, playing to those who enjoy stout and dark roast coffee. wavers1 (129), novato, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 18, 2009 pours thick black with a late forming and minimal dark brown head. huge coffee notes in the nose and mouth. the body could be a lil fuller through the back palate, but is still overall very good. could use a tad more carbonation,m but it’s stil acceptable. the coffee tastes really good, ver ygood quality and -not burned-! however, beyond the coffe there is not much except for a few sweet caramel and vanilla notes. the coffee is top notch, but i feel the stout side of it could be a lil smoother and creamier. overall an exceptional impy. | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Aug 17, 2009 12oz bottle purchased at The Lighthouse in Manchester, Maine. Pours an opaque black body with a good inch of light tan head. Rich espresso and dark chocolate dominate the aroma. Roasty espresso and dark chocolate hit the palate initially, with some nuttines. Full bodied without being viscous, rich with vigorous carbonation from the bottle conditioning. One sip definitely invites another and this beer was gone way too soon. A bit pricey, but no doubt one of the best impy stouts I’ve ever had. No description I can give will do this beer justice.
