I’m overjoyed to have my first sample of this from the source. The pour is so thick with head, that I sat and sniffed for 3-4 minutes before the first sip. The ashen aroma is offset by the warm bloom of freshly birthed beans. Tasting like coffee and nuts - I’m thrilled by their marriage. The body is so full, and the carbonation so dense, that the thick elixer is still on my tongue. For a non-coffee drinker to enjoy something this much - the quality has to be complete.

Bottle@O’Haras, Tampere, Finland. Balanced, but not so bold taste of coffee, roasted malts and chocolate. BD: 12/2015 smoothes the bitterness of coffee, good. Medium/strong body with low carbonation. Overall, top quality IS with a bit light body.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bought back by Matt from Brouehaha in Quebec! Pitch opaque black-brown with tan fizzy watery head. Smell is sublimely coffee: dark and roasted, like a handful of coffee beans in your face (in a very nice way). As it warms up moderate plum, spice, candied apple and honey malt, booze, smoky but fine cigar smoke, oak/wood, some inky liqourice. Taste is very bitter, somewhat minty/grassy, spicy sharp moderately chocolate finish. Body is stony, bitter, medium slickness, quite creamy/smooth, ends on a spicy slightly chewy note. Fantastic imperial stout with lots of roasty coffee. Great nose. Taste is good but would prefer a bit less sharpness. Excellent all round.

Bottle@konttori. Opaque black color with small tanned head. Aroma has lots of coffee, roasted malt, ripe fruits, caramel, toffee and vanilla. Taste is malty with long bitter and quite sweet aftertaste. Flavors of coffee, roasted malt, ripe fruits, licorice, vanilla and piney hops. Very intense but excellent. Complex taste.

Pot on tap from Beer Deluxe. Is it legal to marry a beer as yet? This is one beautiful beer if I’ve ever tasted one. Beautiful froth, aroma and a taste of chocolate ice cream with a shot of espresso. There is a reason this hits the top rated beers.

On tap, this is divine. Bottled, it’s still one of the best stouts you can find. Sweet with strong coffee, chocolate and roasted notes. Delicious.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Midnight black under a mocha coloured head that has great retention. Espresso and roasting the nose. Big bitterness in the flavour. Intensity of flavour is high resulting in some umami on the palate as well. Nitro packed keg gives a full bodied creamy mouthfeel. Coffee and bitterness on the finish. Exceptional.

A- Coffee, slightly bitter, earthy, subtle vegetables.
A- Dark brown color, black liquid, brown head.
T- Bitter coffee, roasty, dry.
P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, dry bitter finish.
O- Timed nicely to have this as my 100th Imperial Stout and my 1,500th overall rating. Pretty tasty! Tons of bitter coffee. Almost overbearing. Possibly a bit overrated but still a very good beer. I think I may have liked it even more if it wasn’t quite so fresh.
