Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

Another great one from Dieu du Ciel. One of the top stout in Quebec, from start to finish, this beer is a pur pleasure.

Bottle thanks to Alemax. Pours dark brown with quickly settling tan head, no lace. Aroma is big, sweet coffee, toffee, roasted, vanilla, banana. Flavor is sweet up front, caramelized sugar, raspadura, with a roasted, dark chocolate finish, coffee finish. Rich, sweet imperial stout. Very soft carbonation, medium body, very smooth texture.

Dark beer, thick head that quickly dissipates. Smells sweet, malty, banana and coffee, decaying tropical fruit. Tastes sweet, coffee, slightly burnt malt, molasses, black current. Bitter finish and far to easy to drink. A powerful brew with no shortage of flavour. Nice mouthfeel.

Keg at BrewDog Aberdeen. Roasty coffee notes on the nose and in flavor. A wee bit of treacle, but not sweet. Thin brownish head.

Bottle. Pours black with almost no head and leaves no lace. Nose of burnt coffee, burnt malt, dusty/ashen malt and a little licorice. Heavy sweet and medium bitter, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation, full body and a lingering bitter finish.

Bottle from Ray’s in Tosa. Has a black pour with a brown head leaving some nice lacing. Aroma is chocolate and coffee. And coffee. Taste is of rich espresso with sweet cream. Light chocolate presence, but all coffee. Smooth and terrific! Medium to full bodied. Finishes long and luscious with a great blend of bitter and sweet. Faint alcohol presence. Terrific brew.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a very nice mocha head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, light cherries and a bit of cream. Sweet, creamy flavour with lots of coffee, some chocolate and hints of dark fruits as it warms. Incredibly tasty, although not overly complex.

Bottle. Deep black with a thin tan ring around the edge. Coffee and roasted malts on the aroma. The taste really brings out the coffee with dark roast and bitter notes. The alcohol adds a perfectly rich, warm element to the mouthfeel but, it's not strong. This is all around great. Love it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
