Commercial Description:
Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

Bottle. Black color with a lasting brown head. Aroma: Roastiness, espresso, a bit of sweetness and caramel. Flavor: Roastiness/bitterness, lots of coffee/espresso, some chocolate as well. The alcohol is mostly hidden. Creamy and dry mouthfeel. Very nice if you are a stout and coffee fan.

Pours opaque black with a dark chocolate head that dies to nice lacing. Smells of roasted coffee beans and chocolate notes. Tastes of delicious coffee beans, some bakers chocolate and a minor hop bite. Medium in the mouth with a tickle of carbonation. Surprisingly very easy to sip, could go for another. Weird combo but complements my quiche very nicely

Bottle,( one of two) thanks very much pyrozoid! Pours jet black, blacker than the coffee I brew at home (in Seattle). Outstanding lush and thick brown head which also reminds me of coffee. Nose is all toasted beans with some sweet malt. Mouthfeel is luscious but not too rich. deep coffee notes in the taste balanced by roasted malt and a touch of sweet mocha. Sprite carbonation is lively on the tongue. Wish I could have a cup of this in the morning! Utterly terrific

Pours pitch black with a thick tan head. Smells like pure coffee. Has a medium to heavy mouthfeel. There is a subtle creaminess to it as well. Tastes like I’m enjoying a nice dark roast coffee. And I really like coffee. The coffee is way over the top and I really like that. Only slight hints of malt and hop appear here. This brew is for coffee lovers only.

11.5 oz bottle. Black pour with a large khaki head. Rich aroma of coffee up front, vanilla, chocolate, dark fruits. Flavor is coffee, vanilla, chocolate, toffee. Very deep and satisfying flavor. Lingering bitter coffee and hops. This is a wonderful, creamy coffee stout.

Draught @ Mondial 08’. Brilliant Stout that is now one of my favorites. Deep black pur with creamy tan head. Choc., Coffe, and black forrest fruits. Thick and viscous. Bitterness in the back. Well crafted, subtle, and damn near perfect.

Pours the darkest brown color possible with a massive brown head. Aroma is a blend of espresso and dark chocolate. Taste is the same, starting with the bitter coffee flavor, blended with a bit of vanilla, but finishing with a dark, hershey bar flavor.
