4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
(Bottle, Ölbaren, Copenhagen, 28 March 2008) Pitch black colour with a frothy, lasting, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with loads of freshly ground, heavil roasted coffee. Roasted, malty taste with the same loads of coffee, hints of chocolate and cocoa and a lovely coffee bitterness in the finish. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, hardly any traces of alcohol (but mind you, it’s 9,5%). Ok, it might be a bit one dimensional, but the mixture of the stout and the coffee is quite brilliant, it really comes together in perfect harmony. Truely a world class beer! Love it!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, courtesy of Kermis @Dean Sticky Floor Tasting 2. Pours a headless black beer without any light shining trough. Light roasted character, slight dark fruity notes, coffee and molasses. Quite a sweet flavor, molasses and sugary with a very smooth mouthfeel. Very nice drinkability, easy going. Great beer!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle, notches say 4 & 4. I’m guessing this is fairly fresh. Pours pitch black with almost no head. Awesome aroma of fresh espresso, chocolate syrup, caramel, and vanilla. Taste is like a mocha candy bar. All the aromas just blend together nicely. Moderate sweetness is balanced with a moderate bitterness. Getting some pine and floral hops in the finish with some lightly burnt wood too. But the mocha coffee is the taste that lingers a long time. Medium to thick body, oily and slightly sticky mouthfeel. Overall, I love it. The flavors balance so well with each other and it’s just delicious.

Bottle at DSFT2. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Smooth taste, quite malty with loads of chocolate and coffee. Some bitterness and alcohol is masked away quite well.

Lots of coffee, chocolate, and malt. A little sweetness and the coffee aftertaste really stays with you.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle appears to be from 2010 which seems about right considering when I think I bought it.
Aroma is surprisingly coffee forward with some nice dark chocolate and light roast. Coffee hadn’t turned vegetal which often happens with coffee beers. Almost a coffee and cream like aroma.
Pours black with some dark brown highlights on the edges. Almost no head and what there is quickly recedes to the edges, but the color appears to be light mocha. Moderately high lacing.
Flavor is slightly sweet upfront but not as expected considering the aroma. Dark chocolate with a moderate roast flavor. Coffee is also moderately strong but not as fresh as in the aroma. Moderate bitterness with some light alcohol spice in the finish. Flavor is honestly a bit muted compared to the aroma.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium low to low carbonation. Medium low astringency and medium low alcohol heat.
Overall a pleasant beer but the aroma is much better than the flavor which seems muted. The coffee is also better in the aroma than in the flavor.
